a well informed investor that spent half a million at 1900 won't panic, gold is wealth preservation, not a quick-rich investment

Can buy anytime now actually when it's nearing USD1200. But it's expected to go below 1200 (but still near 1200) when Greece bailout deal is being finalised.

Sifus, appreciate your advise.

My dad wants to sell his small gold bars (50g each) that he bought from Poh Kong over the years.
Rather than selling back to Poh Kong, he asked me to check if can get better price anywhere outside.

Would you know where I can check to sell them?

You were right. It went down to around 1196 and could have made a little profit over there. Fed is expected to raise rates soon and i guess getting below 1000 wouldn't be hard.

IMHO, any investment products is meant for trading not preservation. Preserve only when its guaranteed & protected. Cash is king, definitely. We just a small ikan bilis, just ride on it. Just my 2¢ view as an investment advisor.

With investigation, gold price is unlikely to rise.

If you are concern myr Forex rate; USD, SGD, Euro, GBP, jpy, rmb and stocks in those currencies could be a better buy.

Gold edged down on Friday and was heading for its biggest monthly loss since September, as European shares traded near seven-year highs and upbeat U.S. data supported expectations of a rate hike by the Federal Reserve this year.

"If the Fed really hikes interest rates in the second quarter and you can't really discount that entirely, there is still that shorter-term target that you could go towards $1,150," Bank of America-Merrill Lynch strategist Michael Widmer said.

Hello guys, I'm quite interested to invest some money in gold. Not too much since i'm not yet working. So I would like to ask, with a capital of probably around Rm1k, is it advisable for me to invest in gold? Or just head elsewhere? I'm putting about RM9k in FD and thought about putting at least some in another type of investment just to see how it goes.

And judging from the latest post, the gold price is currently in the lows. So would it be advisable to buy now or wait for a further dip?

Lastly, where would you guys advice me to start investing gold, Maybank or CiMB? I already have a CiMB account but just looking for other alternatives. Thanks a lot for your time smile.gif

Gold is still in downtrend mode. Wait for the US FED rate hike then maybe can buy cheaper gold.

for FD, maybe maximum 3-6months. Cash is king now, wait for the pullback/correction/cash to enter the market. bu when? this one gotta study study yourself smile.gif

apart from FD, if you want more flexible term FD-like, you can deposit into money market fund which has 0% service charge and the interest is calculated daily unlike FD in the term that you sign for.
