now still the best time to buy?
*
if you trust the Dow/gold ratio, it's still a good time to get some, the trend is up now though we keep seeing it going down again after shooting up but its low is higher than previous high so far..
if you're like me, waiting to the final big drop before going up drastically, then keep waiting for it to go down to around 1K... but probably that'll never happen too..

it's too stressful to think of making profit out of gold investment for me, I just set a target of getting 1kg each for my kids before going to grave and that'll be great
sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit
*
1Kg for each of your kids? When will that be?The gold price might not stay the same then and you might have missed out the cycle to dispose of it to get the best returns..

It's like wealth accumulation. Up or down the price shouldn't matter much as it's meant for passing down to the next generation. Something like property or land etc but much more liquid.
*
That is good but it's also important to learn or at least know about the history of the "cycles"..

sharing my disappointment last night.

was up until quite late.. checking price across few familiar bullion trader.. i guess time flies too fast when i checked again the price significantly increased in a matter of less than an hour.

today i checked again, still at the hi price..

not sure to wait or just pull the trigger.
*
Gold price has dropped since Thursday. Bullion price increased? which bullion trader?

Hi,
Contemplating whether gold account with UOB or Public Bank is better.
UOB - Lower spread between buy and sell. Higher initial investment (20g) and higher subsequent min investment (5g)

Public Bank - Higher spread between buy and sell. Lower investment (5g) and lower subsequent min investment (1g)

For someone who invests small in gold ,would it be logical to choose PB over UOB since with limited funds I can do more dollar averaging i.e more ammunition (money) available left to buy when price is going downwards rather than buying one huge sum of gold at one time?
*
Would be better to buy physical gold instead..

Can I ask why physical bullions are better for long term?
*
If you read T & C of the gold account, there'll always be a clause or two saying that the bank reserves the rights to amend the T&C. If you hold physical gold, you're not bound by those. There's some truth to what bullion investors always say, "if you can't hold it, you don't own it". Btw, a sharp dip in the price is happening now, you might want to consider getting some gold bullion now.

theres few safe deposit box companies around.. otherwise can keep at bank but i guess we all kinda share the same concern here. what if greece happen in here am i right? tongue.gif

so the private vaults would be one of the option, too.

but i saw safe box sold in ace hardware too.. wonder if they are any good  hmm.gif
*
somehow, i don't have much faith in private storage service here in msia. if burglar break into your home, i reckon the first thing that catches his attention is the safe box. They can even cart off huge safe box! Unless you have those that are built into walls(which should give them some trouble carting it off but not impossible to open if they use oxy torch).

private storage service is at the facility not in ur home la. got vault got guards u pay for the storage.

the home one would be safe box. u buy the box and put it in ur home.
*
I know what private storage is. That's why I use the word "private storage service" and (also refer to service in msia) and "safe box" separately. Yeah, I'm talking about two separate stuffs..

QUOTE(bibi michelle @ Apr 4 2016, 12:54 PM)
HI...

MAY I KNOW IF I WAN INVEST IN SMALL AMOUNT OF GOLD WHICH I SHOULD CHOOSE ?

1. PAPER GOLD
2. SOLID GOLD

IF PAPER GOLD, EVERYDAY PRICE IS DIFFERENT, IF TODAY I BROUGHT ON 155/g
TMRW GOLD PRICE BUYING RATE FRM BANK IS 145/g SO I WILL LOST 10 GRAM, THEN I NEED TO TOP UP AGAIN EACH TIME IT LOST ?

FOR SOLID GOLD IF THE PRICE IS DROP EVERYDAY, I STILL SECURE WHICH THE GOLD STILL IN MY HAND, I JUST NEED TO WAIT THE GOLD PRICE UP TILL 156-160/g I SELL THEN I CN EARN.

FOR PAPER GOLD, PRICING IS EVERYDAY UP AND DOWN, SO I HAVE THE RISK IS IT?

IF PRICE DROP TILL 150/g THEN I WILL LOST MY MONEY INSIDE THE ACCOUNT ?

WHICH IS BETTER FOR ME TO CHOOSE, COZ THIS FEW DAY MAYBANK GOLD INVESTMENT ACCOUNT IS DROP, I THINK MAYBE SHOULD BE THE BEST TIME FOR ME TO INVEST IN THIS ACCOUNT?

HOPE FOR EXPERT TO EXPLAIN ^.^ TQ

** I STILL NEW IN GOLD INVEST **
*
Paper gold and physical gold's price should fluctuate daily too though both are not at the same price.
It depends on your goal in buying gold. Are you looking to make a quick profit? You're better off trading. If you're looking for long term investment, I recommend getting physical gold.

If gold price could dropped by over 70% and stayed depressed for over 20 years, how could it use for hedging ?

Gold is almost useless industrially.

hedge against crisis. And gold has a lot of industrial uses though not as wide as silver and copper.

ok, if you haven't know already, one really good example are electronic circuit boards, computer chips, memory chips, etc.... Gold plated audio jacks were once popular..
Don't tell me you've never heard of these.....

Update:
Take a look at this blog..https://powermore.dell.com/tech-culture/how...-and-computers/

I've been monitoring your posts on this thread for a while now. Stop spreading false info to people that gold has no industrial use.

can probably sell now if you're comfortable with the profit you've made. when the price dive down later, you can buy again.

Bought some at RM163-167 / g around 2011 / 2012. Prices have been so low in last few years. Wonder what to do with it now that prices have just got back to slightly higher than my buying price.
*
if the reason you bought last time is to make a quick profit, then better sell it off now. or wait till some time after next week. else, just keep it for the time being.

Hi, would like to ask:
if I buy physical gold bar/coins from gold shops/banks, I can only sell back to them?
for example,
if I buy from poh kong gold bar, I can only sell back to poh kong?
buy from tomei, I can only sell back to tomei?
buy from maybank (kijang), I can only sell back to maybank?
buy from UOB (what ever gold bullion), I can only sell back to UOB?

can sell whatever gold bar/coin we buy from other place to buysilvermalaysia and public gold?
*
You can try Ar-Rahnu, though I haven't actually sold any to them. I reckon all gold jewellery shops accepts all kind of gold but most probably you'll be low-balled. I think BuySilverMalaysia probably will low-ball you too. Not sure if they'll accept Kijang Emas. UOB will only buyback with the "cert" they issue when you buy from them. Same goes for MBB.
