May I know why the price of same weight PAMP Suisse Gold Bar Lunar Dragon is cheaper than Goat, Horse ,Snake and even Lady Fortuna?

Tq
*
Probably because of the rarity of the other bars are higher than the Lunar Dragon?Which website did you see that it's cheaper than the rest?I reckon the price difference are just because of numismatic reasons.

I saw habib currently having RM25 less for gold bar for their merdeka promo. What do you guys think?
*
What kind of gold bar?PAMP?if it's unknown brand like cap bunga raya, ayam, etc.. Stay away from those. You probably can only sell it back to them at a wide margin or other gold jewelry shop. In general, only buy well known and recognised brands like PAMP, etc.

I took a quick look at that promo on their website, the image used is indeed PAMP. But it doesn't list the price of the gold. Can't comment much.

I am keen to buy gold. I mean physical gold. Pls advise.

If I buy via maybank passbook is it safe?
*
Via maybank passbook? What do you mean by safe?Though they say it's fully backed by gold deposited in PAMP SA, you don't get to see that gold..only numbers in your account. Maybank do sell other physical gold, which is the Kijang Emas gold coin.

QUOTE(enriquelee @ Sep 4 2015, 11:02 AM)
Some say stock pile silver is better than gold.
Any opinion?
*
The reason for that is silver is way cheaper than gold and many is of the opinion that it's way undervalued. The price ratio at the moment is around 1:76/ Oz. , which means for the price of an ounce of a gold, I can get 76 Oz. of silver (but realistically, we get lesser because no one sells exactly at the spot price and also silver bullions like gold bullions has additional costs for minting the bullion). So, they says that when "doomsday" arrive, everyone will be rushing into gold causing the acute shortages. People who don't have gold would get panic and would rush to silver instead and because it's cheaper than gold, people will buy a lot and more causing sudden spike in demand and shortages. They said this could potentially pushes silver's price up a lot by multiple folds. So, the gain is believed to be much better than those with gold. And also, silver is much smaller in value and easier to liquidate compared to gold of the same weight.

If you are those who subscribe to the "doomsday" theory, it's good to have some silver if you can't afford gold but I personally keep more gold.

Why say so? Mind to elaborate?
*
He meant to say store more food and water. I should've made it clearer in my previous post or should've use better word. The "doomsday" that I mentioned actually means financial "meltdown", but not to the extent of fiat money turning worthless paper. Things still goes normal, but the "value" the fiat money carries is reduced a lot.

maybank gold good due to spread quite low and can do online through maybank2u. Disadvantage are only can do transaction during banking hours, not backed by real gold which is not syariah compliance which is a big no no forĀ  real muslims.
*
According to their website, they claimed that it's backed by physical gold: " Investments in Maybank Gold Investment Account are fully backed by physical gold deposited in Produits Artistiques Metaux Precieux (PAMP S.A)" .

Thanks for recommending kijang emas ive bought some already. But I don't really trusts maybank gold account as you can't redeem them in physical gold.last time can now cannot sounds very suspicious to me smile.gif but I tested maybank kijang emas and they are indeed real 999 gold coins so I purchase a few smile.gif
*
No probs. Not sure if it's fully backed or not. But in any case, personally I like having something physical that I can hold with my hands. I've few with me too. Wow, where did you get it tested?

Where did you buy your Kijang Emas ? I try to buy at my hometown Miri, but they say out of stock and there will not stock up again due to insurance problem. I was like  shocking.gif  !!

So this time I will be dropping off in KL. Give me info where to get the GOLD Coin.. At least I can sell in my home town if I need to dispose physical gold as they(maybank miri) too ask me eagerly to sell my gold to them ..  sweat.gif .
*
There are 3 places in KL:
1)Menara Maybank (HQ)
2)Maybank Jalan Sultan Ismail (Bukit Bintang branch)
3)Maybank Bangsar Branch (opposite McDonalds at Jalan Maarof/Jalan Telawi area)

I got all my coins from Bukit Bintang branch. Depending on the weight, it seems they are always in stock when I buy them. It's always good to make a call first before going.

QUOTE(yolldddd @ Sep 16 2015, 07:48 PM)
I have them tested in a jewelry shop they have a test machine. Anyway what do you mean "if it's fully backed or not" it is a gold coin and need not be backed as it is the gold itself in the coin that has value unless you're talking maybank close shop in that case still not a big deal as can sell the coin base on the gold contents smile.gif
*
I was referring to Maybank Gold Investment Account. And yeah, if we have the physical gold in our hand, regardless if Maybank gone bust (which is unlikely in near future), we could still sell it off based on its gold content.

Can start to think of buying gold at the moment...

But on second thought, I have reservations to buy anymore gold, because I don't feel particularly secured buying into something that could potentially continue to depreciate in value...

(It is more like I can't wait to sell-off all my gold at the next best timing..., & then migrate over to another investment type...)

*
It seems that you've been buying gold for the wrong reason and trying to make a "short & quick" profit out of its volatility. You'll get burned. Better for you to buy shares or go into trading.

thx for the advise . i buy form cimb bank
*
wah...30K....tough...tough... I bought at around RM140++/g and bought some more when the price hovers around RM132++/g. Then I learn about physical gold vs paper gold and start to acquire physical ones whenever I have enough funds. When the price went back to RM142++/g, I immediately sold off the remaining paper gold and close my account. In all, it's around 5K+ and I didn't make any gains or losses.

I then used those funds to buy physical gold coin instead because the terms for CIMB gold account is not favorable to account holder and there's extra charge per grams if you want to withdraw it in physical bar.

The minimum amount to withdraw is 100g if I'm not mistaken for their own branded gold bar and not some well known branded gold bar/coin.

not really. They'll usually leave the parcel pickup tag and you'll have to collect the parcel at the designated PPL written on the tag.

goldprice drop to the six year low. Anyone buying it now? Is this the right timing?
*
Are you buying paper gold or physical gold?If you're buying them with the intention of selling them soon when the price is up a bit, then STOP. You might as well go trading or investing in shares.
If you're buying them as a hedge against inflation (or the incoming economic meltdown according to some ppl), then just go ahead whenever you have the funds. Physical gold is better than paper gold. The only cons of physical gold is the storage of it. That you have to figure out on your own.

You are talking about paper gold price right? Those are future gold prices, not the price of physical gold. There is a difference.  brows.gif
*
Technically, gold spot price is determined by the gold prices in the futures market. In a way, you can say that's the gold's future price (at a pre-determined period). The fact is, physical gold are priced according to the spot price plus some premium which is not too far off usually.

don't waste ur time commenting on his posts, this person comes here to troll once in a while, or whenever he stumbled upon mainstream news on the fall of gold "price". Once, he selectively quoted paragraphs and sentences to portray that gold is falling from what otherwise, a neutral news article on gold price

if you're looking to make a quick short profit, just forget about gold. if you're buying for hedge against crisis, it's still fine. It's just that you could've got it a bit cheaper last year end.

Goldsmith shops? But I reckon you'll get low-balled big time. Shouldn't have bought CIMB gold.....the extra charges to get the physical gold is ridiculous. And the physical gold isn't something like LBMA grade.
