2 Sony channels are missing from ASTRO: GEM & SONY CHANNEL itself. Not sure why when they have AXN, ANIMAX & ONE.

HD and PVR fees have been combined. Anyone with HD subscription will now enjoy RM10.60 off. Therefore, all Value Pack subscribers/ other subscribers with HD subscription can upgrade to PVR decoder as recording service has been included in HD subscription.

Assthrow is paying additional money for satellite bandwidth for Olympics and BeIn this month.  I believe is Assthrow will only launch ASSP4 HD after Olympics games.  Also, more people will focus on Olympics channels now rather than ASSP4HD.  Assthrow will not launch new channels if there is no benefits to its income, ie, advertising revenue.
*
ASTRO ARENA HD will be launched on 3rd August, same time with ASTRO OLYMPICS CHANNELS.

Jamesleetech - thx for the pics, nice! No Olympics chs on Singtel and Starhub, the excuse was rights too expensive. Only MediaCorp bought selected events rights, delayed rights somemore, I.e. not LIVE. Haha.
*
Neither Singtel nor Starhub will broadcast Olympics? Here both ASTRO & HYPPTV carry all sporting events, while ASTRO ARENA & RTM focus on Malaysian athletes.

For ASTRO, to watch full Olympics coverage, you must at least subscribe to SPORT LITE PACKAGE (RM12.72) which you can unsubscribe again after Olympics end (subject to RM10 downgrade fee). Or else, just enjoy what's on ASTRO ARENA, ARENA HD & RTM.

I am on Namma Pack so just add RM12.72 for Sports Lite and get access to Rio ? Hmmm, seems fair for RM97+ hmm.gif
*
If your internet is lousy so streaming Olympics may not be possible and you want to enjoy 24 Olympics channels, 12 in HD quality without buffering, you can subscribe SPORT LITE for RM12.72 this month and unsubscribe it once Olympics is over. Note that if you unsubscribe it, RM10 downgrade fee applies. So it will cost you RM12.72 + RM10 downgrade fee in total.

I'm on fans pack with mustika. Now that the HD-PVR service has been combined, if I want to upgrade my DMT4 decoder to PVR decoder, that will make me sign a new contract for 2 years right?
If I do this, how much will I be paying for the upgrade?

Thanks
*
Yes. Contract extended for upgrading to PVR decoder. You need to call them to know the price. Because they price PVR decoder upgrade differently for subscribers of Super Pack, Value Pack and other packages.

Not worth the RM8.48 price hike. They don't even show ICC matches live. We get a Malaysianised BeIN Sports version.

I'm on Family Lite pack, if I subscribe to Sports Lite,  will I receive HD channel of Astro Supersport or just normal SD?
*
For Family Lite, you can't add any other packages. If you want to add SPORT LITE, you have to ugrade family lite to normal family package (RM42.35) first.

Here, once channels are removed, they are gone forever, no matter how unhappy the subscribers are.

StarHub confirms Fox channels will continue on pay-TV

SINGAPORE - Viewers of Fox channels on StarHub's pay-TV platform will get to enjoy their favourite shows uninterrupted after the American content distributor agreed a deal with StarHub late Friday night (Sept 2).

StarHub's original deal with Fox had ended on Wednesday, but the deadline was extended till Friday.

The agreement brings an end to months of negotiations. Both parties plan to put pen to paper next week.

The Straits Times understands that StarHub's chief executive officer, Tan Tong Hai, was personally involved in the discussions.

Ms Lee Soo Hui, StarHub's head of content and TV, said: "We are happy to confirm the continued broadcast of Fox Network Group channels and look forward to support our customers better."

More than 20 channels, including popular ones like National Geographic Channel, Fox Movies Premium and Star World, were in jeopardy of being yanked off StarHub's platform.

It is believed cost was a big stumbling block in the negotiations.

The saga comes amid a climate of ever-increasing content costs, one which has led to protracted talks between rights holders and broadcasters.

Rising content costs meant a deal for the live broadcast of the Rio Olympics in Singapore was struck only a day before the opening ceremony.

The situation is not helped by the fact that pay-TV operators here are facing declining subscription numbers.

There is also competition from alternative viewing platforms and streaming services. This includes Netflix, which allows users to bypass commercials.

When I'm back at my kampung, need to tether using my UMOBILE P98 (30GB of data). Luckily my kampung UMOBILE 3G coverage is good. TM not interested to lay cables here due to economic reason.

Taken from KL Trader Investment Research:
"Despite the UEFA Euro Cup, Astro lost 10k Pay-TV subscribers, 15k HD subscribers and 10k SuperPack subscribers in 2QFY17 due to still poor consumer sentiment. Note that this occurred before the MYR8 sports package price hike on 1 Aug 2016. We fear that more subscribers will churn out or down trade going forward due to the sports package price hike. Coupled with UEFA Euro Cup related content cost, 2QFY17 EBITDA of MYR426m was down 13% YoY and 11% QoQ."

So......what will happen to NJOI if astro paid subscribers business go down?
*
1. Put in more advertisements on NJOI channels

2. Offer more channels on prepaid basis. They charge Mustika Pack for NJOI customers at RM21.20 for 15 days. Mustika pack for postpaid customers is charged at RM13 only for 30 days.
