CD wont spoil HU. As the read/write head is base on laser, no contact with CD. So, only thing concern is the CD is round. If other shape then will bring problem unless the HU specific that it support.

Well... it DOES make the player use up it's reading lens quicker. as most CD-R have too thin a top layer, causing the lens to overpower to read the discs, hence the lens would be used up faster than a regular audio CD
This is for CD-R, not too sure about those pirated CDs |

Hmm... the correct describe is reduce the len's life time? I personaly don't find that a big issue as can repair easily.

then in the first place.. use a better disc to ensure the HU is always in good condition..
isn't it better than wasting time and money to repair the HU HUs like eclipse, naka ... the lens repair cost are even more expensive than buying the HU alone |

If you got a quality HU, will be costly and time consuming. |

QUOTE(loon1031 @ Sep 4 2006, 02:44 PM) eclipse and naka's lense actually not very sensitiveit's just that some ppl tend to use a lot of crappy CDR or crappy pasar malan to use it u must know they're using 1st grade lense , these lense are born to read original disc if u use those crappy, u r damaging the lense... so of cos the lense will spoiled |

if you want to burn songs, get a good grade cdr /cdrw, something from mitsubishi (originals) or taiyo yuden.
then when u burn your songs, burn at speeds below 8x prefferably. AFAIK, burning at lower speeds will give better burn impressions on the dye compraed to burning at fast speeds, thus the lens of the disc does not need to power up too much to read it. this reduces strain on the laser/lens |

Black CD-R are better in terms of for audio use not exactly because they actually sounded better, but it's bcoz they won't have instances of the laser overpowering due to the light and transparent CD-R material. Have tested back to back on my own car, same CD Image, burned at the same speed from the same PC and same CD-R drive, the black CD-R(Sonix or something like that) seemed to be easier to track compared to the normal CD-R(Imation), instances like turning off the player and continue later, the Black CD-R actually reads instantly just like original CDs, but the Imation normal CD-R would take some reading and some noises before it usually would continue. And note that my player is still VERY new.
Just my 2 cents on the difference. |

No wonder my HU goes bonkers once in a while, when i have a burned CD playing inside... Luckily my radio has a USB port, i now connect a thumb drive with MP3s for my listening pleasure!
