CD wont spoil HU. As the read/write head is base on laser, no contact with CD. So, only thing concern is the CD is round. If other shape then will bring problem unless the HU specific that it support.

Hmm... the correct describe is reduce the len's life time? I personaly don't find that a big issue as can repair easily.
