Bad timing if launching any new fund.
Public will suspicious govt in need of funds badly.
Especially when govt cut subsidy, petrol price drop to historical low ( we are net exporter), currency depreciate against usd and sgd, bursa drop tremendously...
*
there's some people who would blindly "invest" in ASx fund esp old folks & noobie.

like what happen to me today. Bank staff tried to promo me ASG, telling me the fund give me 7% p.a (way better than ASM, ASW etc. which give around 6sen+). If I'm not well inform, surely I fall for the trap.

like we all in LYN know that variable fund NAV would "drop" after dividend distribution unlike fixed price fund. The so-called 7% p.a are deducted from NAV.

Yes very misleading info.
One staff from asnb called me, don't bother about the 5% service charge, as the yearly dividend enough to cover the service charge for variable funds, but never indicate about the NAV changes for pre-post dividend date. These ppl should be fired.
*
totally agreed. I really pity to those who fall for it. they need to be very clear esp about the 5% SC because a lot of people don't know about it. when already invested, then only they know about it vmad.gif

QUOTE(lucifah @ Dec 2 2014, 08:39 PM)
however, any funds performing less than the benchmark indices are not a good choice. 7% p.a. is very low yield.
*
I remember reading the Annual Report about the "actual return" & it's not 7% like ASNB promoting all over the place blink.gif

QUOTE(champu @ Dec 3 2014, 12:15 PM)
soooo did you managed to fish for any on ASM or 1M? brows.gif

well, no luck. looks like I'm not alone in "trying" to get some fish tongue.gif

Learnt from the counter staff that they will be replacing all the passbooks to a new type. He also mentioned the online transactions in the new year. But it will be in stages. So don't hold your breath for 1-Jan-2015! Ha.

I guess the passbook change is for the online transactions, maybe passbook updating on their ATM?
*
u mean ALL funds passbook shocking.gif

it's would cost a bomb to ASNB & who knows would indirectly effect our future dividend (they charge it under admin fees for each fund expenses) cry.gif

If what that staff said is correct after I asked for confirmation that it is for all funds, then yes, replacing the passbooks for all funds.

I am guessing here, I think it is part of their system upgrade allowing us to do the transactions online (for updating the passbook on their ATMs?)

Ya, did not realise your point about spending $$$$ on this upgrade, at our expense! Ha.

Cheerio.
*
okay. if like that, maybe ASM 1st to change.. because got system upgrade this week icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(MGM @ Dec 17 2014, 05:33 PM)
May be it will be something like a bank account without passbook where things can be done online thus saving cost in long term.
*
I think both because there's people out there don't have internet or don't know how to use computer.. like those pakcik makcik in kampong there.. they only know blue ASB passbook tongue.gif

True. Imagine if all of it is withdrawn and spent on the local economy. We would have RM10 billion injected to generate businesses and transactions. Given how weak consumer sentiment is, RM10 billion flowing into the local economy is exactly what we need to avert more problems.
*
don't worry. I can savely say that around 30-40% of the 10Bil would go into the market & generate biz for local economy.. Why I said this because every year Jan, we very hard to do any ASNB transaction because the waiting number is huge. Some people need to wait for almost 2 hour just to reach the counter & there's limit on how much u can withdraw the ASB dividend that time shakehead.gif doh.gif
