Hi Doc,

May I know if there's any other alternatives to gingivectomy for diseased/bleeding gums? Thanks in advance

Hello doc! can I know how much would it normally cost for the wisdom teeth removal? I have visited a dentist this morning and they were quoting me for rm1200, is this actually a fair price for such surgery? Thank!

Hello all,

It's been years since my last visit to the dentist, maybe more than 5? I have always thought it will be okay, there's no need to go for any check up. But now I feel that I need to do so.

Any advise for me before I go and do a visit? And does any govt hospital have their dental department? Will I be entitled for medical leave if I were to go for a dental checkup?

Many thanks in advance (:

would like to ask for a crown it will cost 900-1500k these day? Any dentist or recommended one? I need it for my front teeth. Looks kinda grey and ugly. Friend of mine in college ask me visit her... They charge rm10 for every treatment.. Let me know if there's any affordable crown available around subang to kl area. I would like to visit them this weekend smile.gif

Yes, there is always a risk, either from patient to patient, or dentist to patient. So if you ask how to prevent this, i would say the best way to prevent the transmission is to only visit the clinic that have good sterilization equipment and do the proper sterilization procedure. Just to add a note, infection control in private clinic is COST CONSUMING, it involve alot of money. So sometime it is better to visit the dentist who charge a little bit high, but the clinic is clean

There was another dentist that mentioned that some clinics do not properly sterilize their equipment especially the equipment used for scaling. Both his and your reply makes me afraid of going to a dental clinic.

Is there any precaution that patients can take while choosing a dental clinic and dentist?

Do established private hospitals or laboratories offering dental services have better or proper sterilization?

Lastly, do you have any recommendation in the Klang Valley?

that tooth is probably 'dead'.... can be due to deep caries/filling or trauma in the past....

Can I ask, do we need to remove our wisdom tooth if it's not giving us any pains / problems?

I think mine has pop up but have not experienced the pain usually associated with wisdom tooth, but some have mentioned that should remove it anyway.

I removed my bottom two even though it wasn't giving me problems. But the xray shows that it might give problems in the future.

I extracted my 2 bottom wisdom tooth under GA. What it feels like? Nothing when you are under GA. Swelling and hurts after it wears off and when you wake up. Swelling stays a lot longer than LA.

I did mine in GH, paid roughly RM50 for everything.

Just removed a molar yesterday. rclxm9.gif Thank goodness it went well. thumbup.gif One week before that,
went to the dentist to have it extracted but have to abort the procedure because
there's an infection. sad.gif Even having 4 shots of anesthetic, the pain is excruciating when
extracting that tooth. cry.gif So, the dentist gave me some anti-biotic and I have to take it
continuously for 5 days and I also have to avoid hot and spicy food. sweat.gif So, yesterday,
when I go back there, I was still very nervous.ohmy.gif Luckily, things turn for the better. rclxms.gif

Glad that you went through it without any problems. Sometimes molars can be really tricky and responsive due to the nerve innervation to the teeth. it's normal the dentist gave you some antibiotic to cover prior to extraction. rclxms.gif

i have 1 chipped molar tooth. been that way for years. everytime i eat something, food will get stuck in that hole and becomes extremely sensitive.

i don't think it can be patched up, so should i remove and replace with false tooth? how much would it roughly cost in gov't & private?

thanks

hi alygonecrazy,

do you feel pain at night? on/off , prolonged, dull aching pain? pls do visit a dentist asap. there might be chances for you to save it. there are many options these day to prevent tooth being extracted. you can always go for root canal treatment, post and core and crown. it's worthwhile the investment to save your tooth because it will even more expensive to replace it. for instances, implant will cost around rm5000-6000. removal of your teeth may cost around 100-200 in private and cost about less than rm5 in government. to make denture to replace your missing teeth, again there are many ways to replace it. you can have denture false teeth, dental bridges, implants, etc materials. feel free to ask me here. hope to clear your doubts.

dr k.

hi kimio77,

they always said if you pay peanut then you get monkey. needless to say, it is important to visit a good dentist which charge affordable but not cheap. the charges will really depend on the severity of your gum (gusi) condition. i believe you are experiencing severe inflammation, redness and bleeding when you brush your teeth by now. that caused by debris, plaque, calculus, tartar which contain multiple types of bacteria colonizing your gum. to cure it? well, you have to remove all the factors which cause your gum infection. most likely you are having chronic gingivits (google it),it might worsen to chronic periodontitis (google it).
hope you recover soon.

dr k.
