For those considering to buy Myvi or Iriz. Here's my personal opinion. 3 months ago my sis and I bought a Myvi (auto) and Iriz (cvt). Iriz was bought one month after the Myvi. Both driven for 3 months plus and almost 6000km on the ODO.
Iriz > Myvi
- Iriz is more stable and very much quieter than Myvi when moving at high speed (above 100km/h) especially on highway.
- The feeling when you drive, Iriz moving at 80-100km/h is like Myvi moving at 50-60km/h.
- Myvi started to feel light and shaky at about 130km/h. Iriz reach that stage at about 170km/h.
- The gear position in Myvi is very odd; it's hard to reach the gear especially those with short hands. Iriz gear position is just nice; like most of the car out there, normal.
- This is the best thing Iriz ever have. It's electronic controlled steering. When the car is idle, the steering is very light. When the car goes faster, the steering will be tighten gradually to provide better control of the car. Myvi doesnt have this awesome feature.
- Driver and front passenger door hand rest in Myvi is stupid. I can hardly place my hand and there's no place to put my phone at the side.
- Iriz have 2 charging ports while Myvi doesnt have even one.
- Speaker quality in the Iriz is better especially its bass.
- Front seats is very comfortable in the Iriz. The design looks way better too compare to Myvi's which look square-ish
- Iriz's back seat is slightly wider (compare side to side, not the legroom).
- When driving through our typical Malaysians' road (bumpy, uneven, holes), Iriz absorb them very well. I didnt notice how bad the road is until I drive through it using Myvi.
Myvi > Iriz
- Iriz isnt underpower. It's actually Iriz's throttle response is slower by a mere second compared to Myvi. It may due to Iriz's heavier body. Myvi can "pecut" faster than Iriz thats for sure. But going pass the speed at 30km/h, Iriz manage to catch up. (p.s even Viva can "pecut" faster than Iriz!)
- When reversing the car, I need to "tekan" more for the Iriz. Myvi can move nicely without any problem.
- Playing music from phone via Bluetooth (Touch screen HU) in Iriz sucks. The sound quality is very poor. Myvi's HU playing music via Bluetooth have no issue at all.
- Iriz's HU is powered by Android but you can't download the apps you want in it (Suprima S guide to install app doesnt work!). Throughout 3 months the Iriz's HU got hang once. The radio functionality is a messed up. When you just start your car and play music via USB, the music got stopped for like 20-30 seconds a few times. (not sure whats wrong here)
- In city run, Myvi FC is slightly better than Iriz. Myvi: approx 12km/l vs Iriz: approx 11km/l
Iriz = Myvi, Myvi = Iriz
- The back seat. I've seen a lot of people claim that Myvi back seat is bigger. Here's the truth. Myvi's legroom is bigger because it's seat is short while Iriz's is long. Your thigh gets to rest well on Iriz seat while in Myvi, half of your thigh will be resting on nothing. I'm 170 cm and I have no problem sitting at the back of both cars.
So if you ask me did I regret buying the Iriz, I'll tell you I'm glad I have bought the Iriz. Yes, it's slightly more expensive but considering the safety features packs in it, hell its worth it! The only problem is those who are used to driving Perodua cars (my family have a Viva, Alza and Myvi..Perodua fans), will have problem copping with the Iriz's slow throttle speed. ( My Iriz chassis number is 1951 and I haven't go for the TCU update). The only reason Iriz doesnt sell well is because it's Proton.
Get your TCU update. No more throttle delay.
On the reverse note, if the car didn't move, don't press the pedal more. Instead, apply the brake for about 3-5 seconds, and release the breake. The car move. I reckon somehow the clutch are not closing when you engage to reverse gear. Then i figure if i hit the brake, that might send something to the clutch. And it did.
