i have used the nilkin H+ on my z1 b4, but had changed to ultimate shield. some pros and cons i found on these...

nilkin
+ cheap. but still does its job well protecting the screen
+ can easily get it. most shops or online seller have it. some even apply it for u FOC
+ comes with back film type sp
- oleophobic coating wears off after 1 month
- my wife's nilkin H+ chipped off around the edges and corners after 2 weeks usage. but mine was fine though
Ultimate shield
+ no sensor cutout hole! (my main reason for changing to this one). most glass sp have the sensor cutout hole, which always traps dust and fingerprint in it. this spoil the minimalist design look on the z series
+ oleophobic coating still good after 1.5 months usage (as of now la)
+ fits better on the screen than nilkin
- slightly more expensive than nilkin
- i have not see any seller selling this. so have to order from their website, ETA can be up to 3 weeks
- have to apply yourself

i prefer no sensor hole as well. p/s: will it effect the sensor ?
but does the ultimate shield comes with back film like the nikin ?
any recommended place to get this ultimate shield sp for the z3 ?

what the hell, is this legit?

One of the main reasons i bought the Z3 is because of remote play, now that other phones can do it too.. :/

Not all users are geeky to do that.

no back film, only front
as mentioned, i have not yet see any seller selling this. i myself bought it from their official website. but that was 2 months ago.

i just got report from staffs from Sony Center G floor in lowyat. the staffs there told me one of the sales representative is a great liar; he is willing to lie anyone in order to get sales. type of funny cases told and my clarification :

International warranty - I, staff from Sony Malaysia (and Sony Center) never sell any Sony phones that have international warranty. if you got a different answer, it is a lie.

Waterproof Xperia E1 - 1st time I heard about it. Xperia E1 doesnt have IP rating but if someone said it has, i would welcome him/her to dunk it into water and see if it stays alive. if it dies, please blame the representative that represented you.

Made in Japan (WTF?) - the brand is Japan, product is made in China but it is quality assured. think about it, your iPhone and Samsung, its manufactured in China as well right? i rarely heard phones are made in Japan.

Hi, I just want to ask a little bit more about the bolded part.

i was hoping that there is some sort of international warranty coverage for Xperia. I'm studying in Germany right now, but planning to pick up an Xperia when I come back for holidays later this year. I'll be mostly using it in Germany.

It will be kinda sad if this is true, as the mobile price in Germany is higher thanks to VAT and import tax.

Does anyone feel the auto light sensor is not working very well? I thought it was a sensor issue but I tested without another application and it can work properly. I constantly find myself have to manually correct the brightness level.

Yea remote play is not a thing that need a specific processor to be able to function... As long as hackers are able to root and gain deep access anything can be done...

I already expected this to come to other phone but I don't like the risk of the whole process of rooting not installing 3rd party softwares...plus I love z3 other features too other than remote play..

shouldn't be a problem for warranty if he did TA backup before rooting wink.gif

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Sep 29 2014, 01:14 PM)
But what if the phone got bricked after rooting? rclxub.gif
*
let me clear this further.

TA is Trim Area keeping DRM keys & other sensitive device id like IMEI, etc. just imagine a BIOS

To bakcup TA, device must be rooted. Why backup TA? To keep DRM keys

To root, there is two way :
(1) Root locked bootloader (DRM is Safe, Bootloader remain locked (untouched)) - not achievable yet for KK4.4.4 with new kernel.

(2) Root by unlocking bootloader.
Unlock bootloader so we can flash custom kernel with integrated recovery to write system partition to achieve root.
Once u unlock bootloader before backing up TA, u gonna lose DRM Keys forever. BUT bootloader is relockable.
Means ur device can shows as virgin locked bootloader just w/o DRM keys.

Why DRM keys so important?
Sony has strict policy regarding Digital Rights. Once DRM key is no longer exists in ur device, many enhacement features
no longer functional like X-Reality, Super-vivid, Screen-mirroring, most VIP treats thru Xperia Lounge, & many more. Unless u dont bother about these features.

Why u need root?
I think no need to explain further tongue.gif just google it.

Conclusion: (1)
TA backup doesnt really related for warranty purpose. u can relock unlocked bootloader.
If ur device bricked, much easier. Sony will replace new board or new phone. They didnt check whether u unlock onot.
To brick ur device, i can help u tongue.gif

Conclusion: (2)
By unlocking ur bootloader NOW while there is no exploit found yet to root our device with LOCKED BOOTLOADER,
u gonna lose DRM Keys forever.

Even if they manage to port it I don't think it would be as seamless & problem free as the official device though. That money on Z3 is worth the piece of mind nod.gif

I doubt this gonna work. it lacks of many dependencies. i tried as much as possible porting dependencies form Z3 to Z2 to my Z2 rom here

No and no. If there is international warranty, then no point for getting local set as warranty can be claimed everywhere.

There is no way that phone manufacturers will make their products have "international warranty". Why? Because it would kill of their respective local dealers when consumers buy their products from overseas and then during RMA claim warranty from them.

Normally phone manufacturers dont provide international warranty unlike other electrical items and consumer goods.

I see. Thanks a lot for your explanation.

Cos I see some electronic items have international warranty, so I thought (hoped) the mobile phones would too.
