QUOTE(benny888 @ Oct 20 2014, 04:23 PM) Just hope they don't decide to close/sell off the mobile division as in Vaio notebook range Sony is still covering it, until the warranty period of the products ended.I still see Vaio being sold at Sony outlets. Who is covering the warranty now? QUOTE(jonoave @ Oct 20 2014, 04:26 PM) I thought the loss only came from the mid-range segment of their mobile division. The flagships are doing well. I don't think it's a disruption for Sony because their Walkman players are the best if compared to other players. Btw, I still see Walkman players around in transits. That's why Sony CEO said they will do a careful review of their mid-range offering. Personally, I think they had too many mid range, e.g. M, L, T, E etc. Sony is a bit like Apple, if they start to offer mid-range but with 'premium prices", they will lose to others like Samsung and China manufacturers who can undercut them. I think Sony should skip the low-end market altogether, keep main focus on their flagship Z series, and maybe 2 mid-range variety. I'm a bit more worried about their audio division. These days people like to listen to music on their mobile phones. Even Apple has discontinued their ipod classic and not updated their ipod line. I still like a dedicated music player, and if Sony decided to add a dedicated amp/DAC to their mobile phone, then they might phase out the Walkman too. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Oct 20 2014, 11:23 AM) Just hope they don't decide to close/sell off the mobile division as in Vaio notebook range Sony is still convering the warrany if i'm not mistaken, though they might pass it off to a 3rd party to address them since they don't make them anymore.I still see Vaio being sold at Sony outlets. Who is covering the warranty now? The VAIO division is not completely shut down, it's now owned by another Japanese investment firm and I think I read rumours that it will be restarting up soon around next year after restructuring. So the new laptops might be called a different name or maybe still VAIO, just not Sony Vaio anymore. This post has been edited by jonoave: Oct 20 2014, 05:30 PM |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Oct 20 2014, 11:49 AM) Sony is still covering it, until the warranty period of the products ended. Taht's good to hear, because as you know the ipod has become popular that lots of people now think ipod is the best portable media player.I don't think it's a disruption for Sony because their Walkman players are the best if compared to other players. Btw, I still see Walkman players around in transits. Anyway, back to mobile phones like I said it was only their mid range that was suffering loss. They still make profit from the flagship series, so I doubt they will shutter their mobile division soon. They're already reviewing the mid range, and I really hope they think properly to cut down on so many unnecessary models. |

QUOTE(wc_how @ Oct 20 2014, 03:08 PM) If this news come few days earlier, i might stop a while to get a Z4 lol. Yeah. agrred. Those slide phonne also a little trouble. Ribbon always rosak. But anything, Sony is good phone. I used Sony (Ericsson) since 10years ago. All of my phone never spoil and change because i want to. Good quality phone except those old SE which was using joystick will give a little small trouble. |

QUOTE(dembaba9000 @ Oct 20 2014, 03:41 PM) U better pray hard bro. First they should revise their mobile cam section. Sony's camera/dslr is so godlike while their mobile cam Think about it, what sorta R&D they have actually invested into the mobile division??? 2.14 billion shud translate to at least a better cooling system for their heating issues?? Honestly all I see are changes in design cue. |

Anybody knows what is the mystery gift from Sony for the lucky draw?
If I purchase a xperia Z3 now from sony centre, any other free gift besides the 16GB SD card plus free gift? Is the offer at Seng Heng worth better than Sony's?? This post has been edited by starry-starry: Oct 20 2014, 09:46 PM |
