Yeah, I think so too. The UAV is perfect for extending the detection range of the vessel but in view of the size of the patrol vessel, something like a double-mount .50 cal M2 HMG shielded mount on the forward and rear decks may sufficiently be heavy enough for its use.

The APMM are still a law-enforcement agency, not a military unit. Weapons are for self-defence against armed pirates or infiltrators, not for shootouts with other patrol boats.

I just hope PM can give good allocation to APMM each annual budget, so can buy new modern patrol ships each year.

People most of the time complain APMM not doing job in Esszone, but I think they are actually very overstretched covering all peninsular, sarawak and sabah coasts after taking over offshore patrols from marine police. Having forced to use old boats don't help one bit also.

Don't forget APMM will need more air assets as well to do a thorough job, especially patrol aircraft. Now 3 Dauphin helicopters & 2 Bombardier flying boat good for basic duties only. Need good aircraft for patrolling & SAR, right now no need big one like C-130, small light/medium aircraft should be ok for the time being.

C-130 too over for APMM， if have much low cost CN-235 than very good liao，just like CN235 used in US coast guard as HC-144 Ocean Sentry

Another reason for my suggestion for ATM to get one or two variant of the AV8 (the APC version and the 25mm Bushmaster IFV version), maximize its potential on that version and stick with it. Designing 12 other turrets for 12 other uses for the AV8 and trying to make it into a jack-of-all trades is wasteful, redundant and probably will lead to many blind alleys.

I think this ambitious AV8 project is not quite right for Malaysia at this time,maybe in future,but not right now.

Dunno la, for me the AV8 probably not on our military-industrial level. Probably too ambitious and complex, so maybe the project can be vulnerable to cost overruns and quality control issues.

But hopefully FNSS can pick up the slack. Unnecessary complication tho.
