personally i hope Malaysia can Join-partner on J-31 project, than purchase total 36 unit like that divided to phase for 10 year time (not one shot purchase)

not sure yet, because J-31 not in PLAAF project/list yet (means PLAAF not provided fund for RnD), just solid AVIC own project, now target for Export first. , also not in PLAN plan yet (for AC use).

WS-13 is not RD-33, WS-13 no need to worry, WS-13 still in RnD and still need at lease 3 year time , MTBO actually is 800 hrs from i read news. WS-13 latest news will come soon see any improvement.

actually more like AVIC use J-31 waiting/negotiation PLA General Armament Department for use by PLAAF/PLAN, so just minimium/slow progress on RnD before get confirmation, usually if officially PLAAF/PLAN project means will be Not disclose project. but now J-31 comfirm in Zhuhai Airshow means J-31 seems out of PLAAF/PLAN selection for time being (possible will be select after 2020), so it can public show and for export. J-31 actually lost contest project during internal proposal PLAAF for 5 Generation stealth fighter in 2007. anyway AVIC start research J-31 navy version for Aircraft Carrier in J-31 V2.

you know also, now Zhengdu vs AVIC in china, zhengdu now start take all fighter supplier J-10 & J-20, AVIC now left J-11/15/16 but soon will be retired after 2020, after that AVIC no more can produce already. so no matter how AVIC have to do J-31 for export and J-31 AC version. news they already start built engine plant for J-31, and J-31 will be ready within 5 year time.
