I'm using TM300. Luv it... HS300, if not mistaken got hardisk on it... I say go for TM. It uses solid state memory. Built in 32GB and can add on SD card...
16GB is so cheap this days... TM will consume less power, less wear and tear, and lighter.... If you shoot correctly, you'll have a hard time finishing the 16GB...

Hey guys , i plan to buy a camcorder for recording things, such as speech , presentation , beautiful scene and sometime record my self for presentation to find out how i perform when i presenting and how can i improve it. My budget around RM500...would that possible for me to get one? (Alternative choice. i get a digital camera and use it to shoot video instead. would it possible too?)

Is it true that only JVC now is making HDD camcorder that using HVD format? Cause looking at the other brand are 'compulsorily' using ACVHD format on writing the video on disk.

Just got my HS300 few weeks ago... will be getting Rode VideoMic later...
After testing VideoMic, will give review again...

It's quite an amazing HD camcorder actually... So far, no regret getting it..

Here are some pros:
1. in low light, it gives u decent quality... quite good actually..
2. the Intelligence functions quite fascinating...
3. 120gb of storage... more than enough for you to shoot...
3. SDHC card slot...
4. Hot shoe
5. Lotsa manual functions...
6. Slightly heavier than other camcorders... which gives you better stability...
7. mic and headphone jacks...
8. viewwinder...

but there are some turn off parts of this camcorder too...

1. It doesnt have SD video recording... only HD...
2. While recording, the light cannot be on... it's only the flash for takin pics..
3. Angle is not that wide, compared with my TZ7 camera... XD
4. Battery lasts only about 1 to 1 1/2 hours...
5. Cannot drop it... HDD will spoil...

well, i think most camcorders nowadays have these cons too...

I will get wide angle lens and a stabilizer for HS300 later...

anyone knows where to get locally? i malas buy from Amazon or Ebay...

thanks bro... haha... after soooo long, finally i got my HS300... haha...

i've no idea what to shoot yet... got it for almost 1 month, but was soooo busy recently... just today started to explore it...

anywayz, the Rode VideoMic...

during recording, i still heard some wind noise... and the mic level...
sometimes distorted if talk to loud eventho i set the mic level to -18 to -21... normally wont...
but u talk halfway then suddenly u 'OI!' like that... it will reach the Red Zone, which means slightly distorted edi...

that's the best sound quality i could get so far in between these levels...

any pros can enlighten the way to use the VideoMic properly?
i dun wan to depend the Auto mic level...

i tried plugging into my laptop to record vocal...
the result turned out to be AMAZING!!!

no noise... very very clear vocal... haha....

If the price is about the same I do much prefer NV-MD10000, cause it records in native DV. Nowdays looking at ACVHD camcoders like HS300 or TM300 the most annoying thing are the video artifacts (pixelling) especially when panning or zooming..

I had problems playing my Sanyo HD2000 Full HR, 60p videos with the PS3 and old version of WDTV. Recently I found that these could be play on any media player that uses the Realtek 1073DD such as the Asus O!Play, HDPro, Hornettek, ACRyan PlayON, etc. One reader commented that these 60p files can also be played on the WDTV Live (that uses the Sigma 8655 chip). Now I just need some confirmation from fellow Sanyo HD2000/FH1 owners here (like ryansia, sotong168?, and others) who has tested their 60p videos on the WDTV Live or new version of WDTV that these videos can indeed be played without issues. This will help potential buyers of media player to make their choices if playing 60p videos is one of their criteria.

Also it would be good if owners of other camcorders that use the AVCHD formats to report problems of playing their videos on any media player so that potential buyers of media player are aware. I know most people buy these players for watching movies and not watching home videos but this will be a bonus. thumbup.gif

ronald, for 60FPS, my HD1010 could only records up to 1080i (interlaced) & 720P (progressive), both resolution works flawlessly on the old 1st generation WDTV, the video quality is just impressive, especially with 60FPS, the motion is silky smooth. however, i use 30FPS most of the time as video editing/compilation with 60FPS is not well-supported, furthermore DVD also cannot cope with 60FPS

Which do u guys recommend?.. What i see that DCR-SR68 is more cheaper than DCR-SR47E.. Is DCR-SR68 got any disadvantages?.. Plz help me.. Thank you..

Same here, I use mostly 30fps for the same reason. Since most of the new HD Media player can now support 60p, maybe can use more of this resolution for even more impressive viewing and use the built-in editing functions loh. Found any new, better editing software for your videos? BTW, I took your advice and bought a media player (the HDPro) from yangxi; so far so good.

What camcoders r u using? If digital models the timecode and date were always coded with the video.

Yup..editing HD especially AVCHD is painstaiking..for Mac this format required at least Core2Duo rig for editing.

I'm using the Videostudio.. not sure where the codec setting is...  but I was told that maybe I install new codec.  I did installed few codec to playback my HD files....

I render to HDV something.. something.. don't know details about it... but 5 min movie end up like 1GB file.  The resulting video is very high quality, like full HD.  So I believe it is high bitrate... Sorry for my newbie knowledge...
*
Actually HDV is MPEG-2 format video, which was native to MiniDV-based HD camcoders. The compression is interlace and very low, so you can see good image.

Just use video editing software to type a date/time to the video at the beginning and fade it out few second later. It quite annoying to see the date/time stamp on the whole video file.

Thanks for replying biggrin.gif

The Pana MD10000 is one of the oldest models im considering here.. is it still worth it if im going into wedding videography?

1. Where do you recommend I should go to look for video equiptment stuffs at a reasonable price?... prefer in KL or penang.
2. Should I stick with DV or go for HDV or Full HD?
3. What prosumer/semipro camcorder do u recommend with a budget or RM6.5k?
4. Should I buy a cheaper videocam and spend the rest of the budget on tripods/lighting/mic etc..?

Some of the cameras i've read about but have no idea what the prices are for these...prefer a new camera from shop as i wanna use credit card.

Panasonic AG-DVC60
Panasonic NV-MD10000
Panasonic-DVX102B

Canon XM2
Canon XL1s
Sony HVR-HD1000

Please advice and maybe give out your opinions and setups. icon_question.gif
