Ya, we don't know how this (the control of Sanyo by Panasonic) will affect the marketing of Sanyo product.
Anyway, there's now a brand new HDD camcorder kid on the block, the JVC GZ-HD620 that is suppose to have full HD at 1080p, only the second consumer camcorder to have this resolution after the Sanyo HD2000. This was just launched last week in Japan so we expect to see this soon in Malaysia. The specs look very interesting with OIS, 120 GB HDD and incredible 30X optical zoom so it should give the big three (Sony, Canon and Panasonic) a run for their money. But so far no reviews yet so don't know how it performs. Read more about it here in camcorder info.

Interesting find this JVC model but still have to wait for the reviews. Anyway in order of importance, would you rate better low light performance over better image stabilization? Or in other words let's say there are 2 camcorders one is excellent at low light but not good IS and the other has OIS but not so good low light performance. Which weakness is easier to compensate for?

I will choose OIS over not so good low light. Low light I can easily compensate with a portable light. Or on all the light in the room when you want to shoot indoor. Or just adjust bright, contrast and level when edit the video.

But for IS, I have to train my hand and how good you are, It still very hard to stable your image. It is difficult to correct the unstable image even in editing.

I believe it depends on the situation. Like ozak said, you can increase the lighting if in your home but you can't do that in public places or use a portable light. To improve stability you can use a tripod, a monopod, a brace or find some other support on hand (just holding with two hands would improve the IS) but then at times this may not be practical. You can do some editing to improve the lighting of the video, just like you can use deshaker or something similar to reduce the shakiness but in both cases, only to a certain extend. So it all depends on what you will be mainly using your camcorder for. If mainly used outdoor in the day, OIS should be key but if used mainly indoors (with poor lighting), good low light performance is more important. Anyway, it all comes down to personal preference.

You want OIS, you can always revert to a screw, a tali, and a washer as a makeshift tripod.

Or learn to hold your cam properly.

Light is harder to compensate, as it's not always that you can use your own lighting when recording.Plus if people see one bright light shining on them at all times, it's harder for them to be natural in whatever that they're doing.

Do the videos play OK in camera and on the TV? If so, the problem of playback in your PC is because your PC is under-powered and the playback software maybe at fault. Playing HD videos on a PC requires more resources, especially at 1080p and also some media player cannot handle them properly. You did not mention the resolution of the videos concerned but I presume they are in HD. Try using the supplied software to play the video or record a video in SD and test if the problem is the same.

You're totally right..
I did survey on BD recorder, for the burners itself to be burned to BD video need to have at least Core 2 Duo 2.1Ghz (if not mistaken).

Just send it back to the maker service center. There is no shop repairing camcorder.

My Sanyo HD2000 is basically a NTSC camcorder and it plays OK on my HDTV. Actually for HDTV it doesn't matter if the camcorder is PAL or NTSC. However, to playback on normal TV, there is an option to select the TV System as PAL (for our TV here) in one of the menus in the HD2000; maybe your Samsung also has this option in case you need to playback on normal analogue TV. Do share your experience with your Samsung here.

Nowaday, TV either lcd or analog type come with auto scan. It will detect it. Unless your TV is very old. The only thing you need to check is the power adaptor. Either it just 100V or multi voltage.
