glad to hear that? btw, a bit confused now, which model u aimed now? give up yr gd350 d? lol biggrin.gif

p/s: all the gshock came with steel box bro, just that they have to unbox it to show to customer what model they have, basically all watches are new one no worries bro, i got your feeling, I'm those type that love to unbox every new stuff by myself biggrin.gif
*
glad coz im really particular about buying display models...not just watches. that being said all my watches were display models coz my dad's fren owns a small watch shop so whole family buys watches fr there.

so i have never had that satisfaction of slowly unboxing a watch b4.

im still aiming for the gd350. but im also keeping in mind GD-100-1B, DW5600MS (or other 5600 models) n maybe even d G7900. the GX56GB-1 also caught my eye but i reckon its gonna be too big n too expensive for me.

for some reason over at watchseek forum they keep raving about the G7900.

im just hoping that the GD350 is still available in the colour i want. it was released in early 2013 so might be a chance not many shops carry it anymore.

right now im actually trying to find my 1st g shock model. the outer shell broke apart a few yrs ago n i threw it away...imagine that man. im cursing myself for doing that.

haha i no sifu... i also started out hunting like you, i've a worn out old model G-Shock AWGM100 series,
from GAC-110, then move on to GA-1000FC, then GW-A1000FC, finally settled with GW-A1100FC

mine is the FC ver : http://www.casio-intl.com/asia-mea/en/wat/.../GW-A1100FC-1A/

i got it from Japan @ good price compared to few shops i've asked at KL

GW-AW1100FC-1A @ KL @ RM1999, where by i got mine at Japan @ RM1504, due to Yen low currency exchange.

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif still a poor student, the most expensive i managed to buy is the entry level ga1000 series bro, but definitely will buy another gshock, i'm eyeing the mtg black steel from the very beginning, money speak everything, out of budget la..rm3k cry.gif

but really the gulfmaster is either love or hate.
the ones who love like the rolex looking thing.
the ones who hate doesn't find it as practical unless u need the tide graph.
anyway, solar power v3 sensor very efficient la.
the 9300 also solar but v2, batt drop to M much faster than 9400 or the v3 sensor protreks.

if you wish to enjoy the unboxing process, buy online bro, at least by the time u received your parcel and the package is sealed (actually they ady opened to double check or even triple check before sending out tongue.gif lol )

so assuming that your wrist isn't that big eh? or u prefer smaller watch? based on my own experience and what the watches shop owner told me last night, 10 out of 10 customer bought their 1st watch claiming that their wrist is small and not wish to wear big case watches, but for the 2nd watch, they all wanted bigger one, but still there are some "unique" ppl prefer small la, not to say dun hv at all

based on the model u mentioned, i'll prefer either GX56GB-1 or GD100-1B, GX56 is definitely bigger with 55x53mm, but gshocks are the bigger the better for men biggrin.gif or with your budget you may grab two of them together perhaps rclxms.gif

v2 i stop using already, just let it sit in box.

my wrist size is about 7 inches. i dun mind a big watch, its just that i dowan oversize one...mainly coz it'll end up getting scratched. i think most models im ok with the size. but i'll avoid those extra large size ones. but i still wanna try on the King GX56 tho LOL.

nah im getting one 1st. den see how it goes. my last g shock was a model called DW-003C-8T. got it as a bday present back in 1998. cost RM400+

user posted image

i liked it but it was hard to maintain bcoz of the white fabric band.

after that i found another g shock in a cab. but neva really wore it. cant remember d model. it was black with red buttons. similar to 7900 in terms of looks but with less functions. a few yrs ago i took it out n wanted to start wearing it but the whole outer shell disintegrated when it washed it with water. broke into pieces really.

rangeman gw9400 caught my attention seriously, but was then gave up hunting becoz of the price, not really need those function though (triple sensor) trust me bro, no regret picking the ga1000 series, big case, lume with neobrite, thermometer and compass, and more importantly the plane logo is rotate-able  drool.gif

*
haha, but still, personally prefer the old skool letter display in G-Shock than those with rotating arm

go get it bro, i got attracted by GX56 as well, will definitely pick one classic look gshock as well, either the 5600 or this one
personally feel that gshock is tougher with resin band, not really into fabric strap, i guessed teh gx56 cost around rm3xx-4xx eh? managed to find any?

just guessing la, this model is the one u found broken? GWM530A or this one? DW6900

1st things 1st wanna get the GD350...it was love at 1st sight LOL. after that i will get one basic/classic model. it will probably be the G7900. so many raves about 7900 over at watchuseek forum that im curious to see wats d big deal.

i think d model i found in d cab was a DW6900. it might be fake or maybe d band was fake...as d band buckle was gold in colour.

despite my interest i havent gone to any watch shops yet. mainly coz its a long weekend n malls gonna be packed with ppl. i wanna take my time looking n trying Gs. n not having to move aside every 30 seconds LOL.

i gather G Factory is d best place for browsing for Gs ?

Is pertama complex an ok place to get g shocks ? cos my dad knows a guy there n whole family been buying watches fr him since the 80s.

cant remember specifically which threads but the general consensus from posts and threads i read thru seems to indicate that G7900 is a good model to start with, decent price n solid design.

depends la, for me i find the tide graph on 7900 abit useless as i dont need it.
best basic models to start with are still 5600 and 6900.
the new gd400 also not bad.

i dun really like d designs of the 5600 n 6900. although the MS version looks quite cool. any idea how clear d MS displays r of those 2 models in real life ?

GD400 looks good...except for the metal protectors. i reckon after some use, the paint on those protectors r gonna get scratched off.

negative display is not a problem for reading the time in the day.
at night can always activate Auto EL.
only model i feel negative display got problem is on rangeman...basically harder to read the barometer graph...time still easy to read.
