I saw lelong sell at RM69 only.
*
that one is stupidly expensive, and i can only guess that one is stupidly expensive cos its suunto branded, or just davis.
i got a tube couple yrs ago for rm22 only, IIRC passions in bangsar village sells it for rm30+ now cos of GST etc.

I checked them both out at G-Factory. The GW9400 is quite a bit bulkier in width (3-to-9 ) than the G9300. And their prices are non-nego, which makes the JDM version cheaper...
*
JDM of what?
g-factory for sure non-nego, just search mudah / lelong got ppl selling import brand new below rm900 for 9400.

as for 9400 being bulkier, well it is a gshock.
and it may be abit bulkier than 9300, but still doesnt hide the fact 9300 also bulky tongue.gif

in the end, it just boils down to whether u want the features of 9400...or whether u want a decent affordable Master of G.
for me, i want the barometer / compass, also 9400 got one press to stopwatch function, and front light button.

anyway, just some of my pics.

This one...GW-9400J-1JF Rangeman.
But yea, still have to consider whether the additional functions on the 9400 outweighs the size increase over the 9300...
*
some ppl also find the 9300 big.
but if u want a G, the 9300 is still a good start...i think can still find below rm500 brand new.
else just stick with basic G like 6900 or 9052.
im probably one of the new who dont like 5600 tongue.gif

Gshockrocks, I don't seem to find any seller for the G-Shock GW9400-1 Rangeman. Do you have any suggestions where I can get them in Malaysia?

Thank you! smile.gif
*
what do u mean cannot find? ever tried just searching for the term rangeman only?
plenty of sellers on lelong and mudah.

Hello, depends on the item declared value. Anything, in this context G-Shock -  over RM500 will be charged GST 6%. I've been to the Pos Malaysia Sepang twice to claim my G's. The recent one I bought however was not taxed (> 1K). So, depends on your luck I'd say.
*
i just had a seiko came in, more than rm500.
was sent via fedex and escaped gst.
its not the first time im hearing fedex escapes...dunno why tongue.gif

Nice to hear that! smile.gif I do not have much options as they only have (recommended) EMS to ship. So when it comes in, it's handled by Pos Laju.
*
there is no option to pay more for courier?
if poslaju asks u to pay GST, then be prepared to fork out around extra rm100 over the GST, for their services rendered should u choose to.

can get replacement case?

this one. i really hope to wear it again.

*
u wont find the original case anymore.
either try ur luck sourcing ebay for a donor watch, or use another model thats case is interchangeable...just do a search to find what models are.

u mean i have to get another watch to take the case? or there are ppl selling empty cases? i had this watch when i was young and it was pretty expensive watch for a school boy.
*
yes, since that model is almost 20yrs old...and IIRC gshock only makes parts up to 10yrs.

hehe ok thanks for your guidance. meanwhile checking with macro for dw 9052 parts hehe...
*
9052 parts would probably come up to 50% the price of a new watch here.
better just source ebay etc for used.

g-factory retail is RM3179.

if u talking about the black/gold version, that one also available already...forgot price of that but needless to say slightly more expensive.

Any resources to recommend for me to learn how to tinker with watches? Where do I source the replacement battery and straps from? What tools do I need to buy?

I know how to take apart computers and laptops but watches....
*
batt usually standard size.
can buy from any watch shop.

straps - ebay, distributor marco, private sellers...so many options.

tools, obviously a screwdriver tongue.gif

eh bro, dumb question from me again

since there's WR rating on the g-shocks, changing battery myself obviously i don't know how to ensure its still water resistant is still intact... how about if change at shops? they also wont check right?
*
yea dumb question tongue.gif
unless they got machine to do, then no test...
just make sure the rubber seal / gasket put in properly and greased nicely etc.

ya, negative LCD hard to read...i still got my mudman and sometimes gets irritating to read so i dont wear it as much.
but casio has recently started using STN displays in the protrek, makes the negative display so much easier to read.
guess only a matter of time before STN displays trickle down to the gshocks.

you can try Goldblitz ground floor at Pertama complex, look for an uncle called Kenny

or you can try Great Time at Sg. Wang, they belong to the same boss but have different stocks don't know why... Pertama seem to have more old stock
*
i think pertama are owned by the old farts, while great time are run by their lenglui daughters... one of them wears a lv hulk smile.gif
