So far most of if not all the Samsung phones I had used can install CWM recovery WITHOUT root by simply flashing the CWM tar file through Odin
*
So i still need to root ?

I already clearly said just flash the Cwm tar file will do
Root is optional
Either way your warranty is void
Might as well root phone to have more flexibility

The funny thing about it is that, so many tutorial i read, it ask to use odin first to flash the custom recovery image and then root the device. In my case, i can't even flash the custom recovery. Well not that i cannot flash, the flash is successful but after a reboot, i found out the recovery rom is still the standard one and does not change to image i just flash (even after it said the flash is successful)

I always root after flashing CWM. Just use CWM to flash the super zip file. Had been doing it past 8 years on all Samsung phones. Again I would say it is not necessary to root to flash CWM

I wish to repeat it is not necessary to root first to have CWM installed. Seriously I had no idea what happened to guyfriendx phone??

I have both experiences install CWM then root or root then install custom recovery e.g TWRP. But my thought is rooted then install custom recovery is more proper specially for those who doesn't like CWM that manipulate with vol and home key.

I know there is touch CWM.....

I noticed there are few drawback after upgraded to Lollipop OS.

- Lockscreen not able to view any missed call, messages notification etc (see attachment below), need unlock in order to know.
- Phone Setting screen and phone screen etc & message setting screen all become White background, (even pull-down notification panel) I preferred Black background.
- Phone fully charged only the LED notification turn Green color, however the battery status indicator no longer show the fully charged icon.
- Calender changed layout, don't like it since fully occupied whole screen.
