i have I9505 just receive an upgrade to Lpop 5.0. A bit dissapointed as i was hoping for the ultra power saving feature as in 5.1. I read somewhere that we can upgrade to 5.1 using cyanogenmod. has anyone done this ? I try using odin. but having trouble flashing TWRP. I flash using odin and it says PASS. but then reboot it is still standard recovery rom. any one has an idea ? i already enable the debugging USB feature.

Ermmm i read using odin .. no need to root. if other tool then need to root it first.

This is really helpful. The Ultra Power Saving is the only feature i want in my S4. If this is available separately .. then it is sufficient. But looking at it .. the author only tries it on I9506. So i not dare to install on I9505. Furthermore it is too technical. Anybody has tried this addon ?

The funny thing about it is that, so many tutorial i read, it ask to use odin first to flash the custom recovery image and then root the device. In my case, i can't even flash the custom recovery. Well not that i cannot flash, the flash is successful but after a reboot, i found out the recovery rom is still the standard one and does not change to image i just flash (even after it said the flash is successful)

just to confirm that .. yes .. have to root first. after i root .. then flash the custom recovery .. now it works.

i already completed flashing 5.1 to my samsung. now my I9505 is on 5.1. Thanks everybody.

yeah in my case it does not work without rooting first .. i tried several time .. no go .. once i root the phone and rerun the flash .. it works straight away.
