Hi Guys, couldn't resist it already and finally got the Galaxy S4 Black Edition which is supposed to be limited to replace my S4 Mini. Love the all black colour and trims as well as the wallpapers and the Leather back cover. However, I do have one dissapointment. Being the latest and last edition to the S4 family, the Black Edition actually came in I9500 which comes with Exynos 5 Octa 5410 CPU. My only qualms is that it only supports 3G and no LTE. yawn.gif What an utter dissapointment for me. I chose to buy an SME set because of warranty reasons and now I feel cheated as I should have got the LTE version which is supposed to be the I9505. Heard AP sets are all I9505. Anyway, my mistake for not checking properly when I bought it.

4.4.3 is slowling trickling out for the S5. IMO it will be at least another month till the S4 receives the update.

As usual. Its because there's too much samsung bloatware's to be cook'ed again to fit Android L (4.4.4). Thats what delays them in releasing 4.4.4 firmware.

Sony firmware? As light as it can get. I love them UI's and such.

+1

I really dislike the lagginess of the S4 and the S5 as well. But alas, I like the black edition. tongue.gif

My previous S4 mini was quite good smooth though, even on 4.2.2.

Hi Bro... my Note 1 (sold) and S3 was/ is rooted but S4 still virgin... for S4 i disabled too many...
example blurcheckout, ANT, chat on, dropbox (not reliabe already since the icoud leak incident), earth, drive, google playbooks, google play newsstand, group play, samsung billing (uninstalled), samsung watch on, tripadvsor, backup, all the samsung cloud things and many more.

*
Why not opt to uninstall them then?

QUOTE(cursebreaker @ Sep 9 2014, 08:12 PM)
anyone know where i can get the faux leather battery cover?

like this : S4 Black Edition
*
You have to get the S4 Black Edition S4 like mine then. Coz not on the backcover is faux leather, the front bezel is all black and the side chrome lining are dark titanium.

i rooted and uninstall all those junk apps, still feel slight lag, and battery didn't improve as well.

weird...
*
Cant expect huge improvements. The major problem is Samsung's Touchwiz which slows the phone down. Only option would be to root the 'sucker'. laugh.gif But then again, if you dont wanna use Samsung's Touchwiz, why buy a Samsung at all?

90+MB upgrade and furthermore only to make our S4 more stable and never tell what stable and no idea what not stable  sweat.gif  So my comment is  shakehead.gif
*
As long as it makes the phone less laggy and ultimately less buggy, then its good enough. Its a minor update only if 90mb. laugh.gif

Experience with Samsung's firmware updates:  don't install it.  Wait for guinea pigs first.
*
Want or dont want, you would need to install it as the latest updates will address the currents issues and bugs with the phone.

How do you know it won't introduce new bugs and issues?  smile.gif
Saw some posts here about bad battery drains, bla bla bla with the JB update last time.  What's the rush to update?  If I don't find serious issues with my phone, I don't usually update.  I was on stock 4.2.2 and then jumped to custom 4.4.2.  Didn't feel like I missed anything in-between.
*
There are always bugs and issues with every phones. Thats why phone manufacturers need to constantly update your phone. If a bug and issue free phone is needed, I would recommend the Nokia 3310. nod.gif

I know.  But, how do you know by fixing some small issues, it does not introduce some big issues?  All I'm saying is:  what's the rush?  Unless the user is so anal about version and build numbers that he's the kind who cannot resist tapping the Update button in Play Store even though everything works fine.

BTW, 3310 is overrated.  6510 is much better, high resolution, EDGE, blue fading backlight, interchangeable housing with 8310.
*
Sometimes I prefer the simple life during 3310. No bugs no updating. Just insert sim and charged it and its on. laugh.gif

At this moment the only drawback that may stop S4 getting Android L is either Samsung delivery speed and RAM, so far Android base FW are more Memory friendly and the only drawback is SAMSUNG speed... 4.4.4 also take so long S4 may be the last update or 4.4.4 the last one... rclxub.gif  doh.gif
*
Thats what I dislike about Samsung phones. Slow updates. doh.gif

By the way, 4.4.4 is on the way. So we just have to be patient abit more. Hope it solves most of the bugs and issues like battery drain.

4.4.4 for S4

Samsung sucks in updating their devices. They are more interested in coming up with new and similar devices hoping Samsung Fags will buy their products like I-Zombies do.
