X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) (The Rogue Cut)
Hello everyone. I managed to watch this over the weekend. I know that whenever X-Men is mentioned, alot of people roll their eyes and groan and point to X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and say that the franchise is a bad one. Now psychologist are actually saying that "Happiness is a choice" but I digress... I like X-Men: First Class (2011) alot. I like X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) even more!!!! When I heard about this cut (basically a director's cut), I wasn't sure how they would "fit" Rogue (the character) into the story-line. And after watching this version, the answer lays in "the future". Is this cut better compared to the theatrical version? My answer is, it makes more sense!! It is a tad longer compared with the theatrical cut, and have to add, not by too much. If you are like me, and enjoy the theatrical cut, you will enjoy this one!! Onward to X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) My Additional Two Sen |

Star Wars I, II, III, IV, V VI.
Took advantage of the long weekend to do a Star Wars marathon, to brush up on my Star Wars lore before the new chapters. Most of you would know by now that the 3 episodes made late 70s and early 80s are episodes after the ones made late 90s and early 00s. I wonder, are there people on this forum who had not watch the Star Wars series? Having a chance to watch them in their numeric sequence, I have to say the IV, V and VI are still my favorite episodes. Why? 1) The three main leads have such great chemistry (which episodes I, II and III lack). 2) Because of "lack" off funds, the IV, V and VI episodes had to solve specially effects issues more practically, therefore, the movies are more... "organic". It is obvious that Yoda in episodes V and IV is a puppet, and have to add, he is SO MUCH MORE LIKEABLE in those episodes. You actually "care" for him. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Having said the above, I am actually a skeptic about the new episodes. Even IV, V and VI had their inconsistencies (story wise), and after I, II and III their was much greater. Star Wars IV: The New Hope is a bright star in terms of movie from the 70s. The fact that it is still placed highly amongst movie goers highlight that. My concern is with every new episodes, that brightness seems to diminish... We shall all see, in the future no so far away. My first Star Wars (the very first Star Wars in Mid 70's), I had to line up long queue, in a cinema without Aircon. The line has to be managed by Policeman to prevent jump queue. It was full. So me and my brother had to sit apart to watch the movie.
AT that time the movie usually has Intermission Session for a few minutes to allow patrons to go to the toilet or buy food. It was wooden bench, yes. For some reason we didn't feel warm at all. |

There were a few movies that really had a strong impact on me when I was growing up in the 70s, namely
a) Star Wars b) Alien c) The Champ d) Snake in the Eagle Shadow (heeheehee, such a wow movie for an 8 yo) Perhaps I should revisit them this September during our public holidays. |
