magnificent seven 2016 is good.

thought not much originality, it offers some great entertainment as an action thriller. 3.5/5.

a remake of magnificent seven 1960 which is based on kurosawa's seven samurai 1954.

so you get denzel washington, chris pratt, ethan hawke, vincent d'onofrio playing the roles of yul brynner, steve mcqueen, charles bronson, james coburn.

still, somehow i think neither hollywood movie beats the original classic 7 samurai in black and white!

Storyline reminded me of High Plain Drifter. Very similar. Was original Magnificient Seven and the Seven Samurai based on the same storyline as well ?

here's a good chinese action movie - call of heroes.

stars sean lau, luis koo, eddy peng, wu jiing. benny chan as director with samo hung as action director.

colors and audio are superb, enjoy. among the best in 2016, 3.5/5.

in the movie world, we have had terrorists, aliens, predators, ghosts, walking dead, etc.

this idea of a man-made supernatural terror is fresh! got me googling "bose-einstein condensate"!

league of gods 封神榜 is an ambitious chinese fantasy movie production. great decor, inspired by LOTR/hobbit and maybe x-men... but a bit of overdose of animation and cgi. star studded cast with jet li, tony leung, fang bingbing, huang xiaoming, angela baby, andy on, luis koo, etc. but... poor movie version of the original fengshen yanyi chronicles, poor subplots, poor story editing.

still, fairly good entertainment, 3/5.

sequel expected!
