Yes, you can use external sd as source.

In order to flash using Nubia updater you must use official rom. Updater may not detect if you use CM12 roms. Recovery can use Twrp, nevermind. You need to be able to "boot" into official rom to set Factory and adb port enabled.

Yeah... really not easy these updates.

I've flashed many² times and never had issue with IMEI missing, or flash half way.

I know there is risk and happy that I had a good journey.

I flash official rom clean to solve the problem. I had the same problem like you described

yup you can use that one, until update it to 3.19 I do not have problem with whatssup crash

I start flash from 3.09 -> 3.17 -> 3.18 -> 3.19

Start from 3.09 because I also try YIOS, and want to make sure clean install using Nubia updater.

You can flash to any Lollipop rom without going back to 1.64 using Nubia updater (depending on version of Nubia updater).

Use RESTORE from backup in TWRP.

Reboot and use nubia updater to flash official rom that you want.

you can edit the build.prop in /system

Some update can just use TWRP to flash. If OTA update need to unroot.

Most of the case, need Nubia updater to flash, no need to unroot. This is good to clean install but data will lost, quite risky for newbies.
