My fren is planning to buy his 1st car in his life...!
He now is thinking btw MyVi and Savvy, dont know which 1 would be a better choice.
He is a normal city driver; so he doesnt need a powerful car, he need a car which is save petrol (but dont want kancil)...
His plan to buy a 40-50k car; pls tell me/us if u hv other good car suggestion..
I really hope to hear some comments from MyVi's and Savvy's owners

reason??

actually, in terms of outlook, brand-image.. MyVi would be a better choice.
but, i read a lot of car reviews (from oversea) saying that Savvy's performance and handling is damm damm good..
it's make me confuse... rclxub.gif

Well i choose MyVI mostly bcoz of the size and look of the car... I tried a friend savvy b4 n for a 5' 8" i find it a bit hard to find a comfortable driving position, and when the position is ok it would eat away the legroom for the occupant behind the driver side.... Boot space is limited also, in one of our trip to melaka, 2 of my friends had to tumpang their luggage in my car coz there is simply no room left in the savvy boot...

MyVI i find more roomier n eases my mind to know that the occupants would b comfortable... Donno bout power of the engine though, it should be ok i think...

well, if ur fren likes a spirited ride, y not go for a satria neo instead?
bigger engine, much better suspension, lower chassis smile.gif

all else, if ur fren wants an easy to drive car, myvi is still the way to go smile.gif

i'm in a same dilemma myself.

planning to get a new car.

Savvy looks quite nice - GREY one only. some i still don't like the colour. makes them look ugly. BUT i like the fact that it's AMT and 1.2L for such a price.

Myvi looks nice - i don't mind any color. i like the size, the space, the everything - but auto will cost more and i'd really like to have auto.

so price vs price, it's Myvi 1.0 manual vs Savvy 1.2 AMT.

another reason to get the Savvy is that it's not so common. see Myvi so common until don't feel like getting it already. biggrin.gif

and yeah, i was a Savvy-looks-basher and sort of still one but i admit that the grey and green one looks nice, and that Savvys look really nice with the bodykits. (although deep in my heart i still don't like the toilet seat hood and awkward back view)

other reasons for getting Savvy in my book, is that people don't quite like it so therefore lesser demand, therefore lesser theft target. LOL. ok well i have no proof on this, just a POV of mine. biggrin.gif

Comparing the 2,

If you'd asked me to choose a car based on looking at the accident pics, I'd choose MyVi... BUT, driving a car means trying to avoid the accidents in the first place.

If you'd asked me to choose a car based on looks, I'll also go with MyVi. Sure the Savvy looks cool with the bodykit and the back of the MyVi sometimes do look like an upside down mushroom, but in overall, MyVi still looks nicer and have a hack of a lot more bodykits then Savvy.

If you'd asked me to choose a car based on driving peformance, I'd say go for Savvy for a more powerful ride and better handing. And go with the MyVi for a more comfortable ride. Add a strut bar and step on the accelerator harder, the MyVi can go from 0-100KMh faster then a Wira Manual. So it's not so weak after all and the handling is quite good with the bar.

If you want to save fuel, go with Savvy.

If you want to fetch people, go with MyVi

If you want to have a better and healthier body in terms of bone stucture when you grow older, Get the MyVi. (yeah, I'd just gone through my company's egornomics session.)

And if you're not limited to only these 2 cars, I'd suggest comparing MyVi with Satra Neo instead of Savvy.

And if you have the moolah, Get Honda City instead.

Contrary to popular believe.. it's not that expeanive the parts...maybe RM500 timing belt kit is expensive but price seems ok compare to other makes as it includes water pump kit.

Just some info.

QUOTE(hypermount @ Aug 15 2006, 03:15 AM)
Savvy's parts price

1) Wing mirror (entire unit) = RM 122.70
2) Air filter = RM 113.94
3) Oil Filter = RM 34.01
4) Tranself gear oil 75W80 (1L) = RM 44.66
5) Front headlight = RM 346.42
6) Rear tail Light = RM 195.27
7) 3rd brake light = RM103.70
8) Speedo meter (UK version, part# PW865651) = RM436.10
9) Timing Belt kit with bearing (part# 7701473001) = RM516.74
10) Radio Antenna (part# PW851932) = RM167.00

Oil & air  filter change is 20k km..there's much cheaper aftermarket air filter like washable redline..I feel it's the most pricey in the list...the gear oil is 40k and timing belt 60k..the gear oil is synthetic needs 3L..got cheaper alternative I heard owners use Tranself mineral type instead.

Localised parts ( apart from proton ori) is beginning to appear in the market.

Oil filter for Savvy is RM7 and air filter RM16..

There will be a cheaper alternative for Savvy's timing belt kit which is RM500++

Proton cut throat..even renault's ori oil filter is cheaper than Proton's filter...

Expensive parts? hardly...that's the beauty of the net, infos travel very fast.
One other nice thing about savvy is the gearbox which contributes to nice driving experience...not talking about AMT though cos different story..

If you like manual tranny car..you'll feel nice changing gears in Savvy manual which is stiff and solid..clutch which is hard also can be tweaked to become softer...

One lady friend who's been drving kancil agrees with me...she feels her kancil like a toy after drving my savvy that is include overall experience also, overall the car feels heavy and drives like a bigger car, might not be a better choice for girls thou... perodua manual gearbox is too soft too lembik..including Myvi manual..

And at least you don't have to bring in certain part from other countries(ie. like drveshaft from japan for corolla altis) since savvy is 100% proton's product.

I'm gonna be a hyprocrite and an idiot at the same time.

Between, MYVI and Savvy, put aside Proton's terribly negative repo and go with Savvy. The one wit R3 bodykit, is really nice in my opinion. The disgusting back lights that look like elephants poo regurgitated from a giraffe's peehole, can be changed. No probs there.
The Satria Neo is also an excellent road-handler. I pusing at 60KM/h, pretty also the car like no challenge ajer. Then I tried up to 80KM/h, not a simple corner either, it still gripped, albeit the ass felt like it was going to tear off the road. The pickup was sucky though.

The myvi....rolling potatoes on size 12 shoes skating off 2 wheeled rollerblades.
It's engine's, choking when u switch the aircond off. But with the aricond switched off, it's pretty vroomy.

On the idiot side, can the feller naik buget? For RM59K, u can get a Honda City 2003 IDSI off motortrder.com.my
Check it out

No offense, but is this even technical at all ? I don't think it should belong here cos its more of an opinion or preference than any technical reasons.

Mod what do you think ?
