overrated, not spoiled by it.
meaning so many people placing emphasis on it without knowing what it actually is and in many cases, don't see how their photos could even improve with the dynamic range.
and can't blame sensor for user problem.

if your photo is nice then the recovery with slight noise shouldn't be a problem as well.
let's say, you have the same composition, same angle, same aperture, same exposure and bla bla bla. but then you are limited to 1 shot and you are shooting landscape with a very bright sky and dark foreground. you have one canon dslr and another one with sony sensor both shooting raw. the one from the sony sensor is going to have better potential than the one from canon for sure after properly edited.
i know, but then not everyone is the kind of person who never did mistakes on under or over exposing a shot. more so if the shot means a lot then of course he or she will try the best to recover and obtain the optimum result. the problem with canon's shadow noise is that it's very hard to remove because of the horizontal pattern.
take this image as example
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7414/1149851...341d51426_o.jpgit was one of my best bird shot ever but then i saw that bird when i was walking around my house. i ran into my room and grabbed the camera to take this photo but didn't have time to change the settings because I was in a rush and ended up with 2 - 3 stops of underexposed picture. had to apply a lot of noise reduction and selective blur to clean out the color noise.
you don't need it but that doesn't mean others don't, furthermore when it's under the industry standard already when everyone else can do better.
