Something to share about Canon Shop in Midvalley as well.

A friend of mine went there last week to test out 50mm F1.4.

The lens was original in the DISPLAY showcase (all the lenses there meant for DISPLAY) - he asked to take out as he wanted to test

Upon the staff handover the lens to him (before mount to those DEMO bodies), he just did a LIGHT shaking the lens to see the construction (to see any loose part or poor build or not), press the AF button to MF and play around with the focus ring....

Guess what, immediately the staff day told my friend..".hello SIR, by doing this we can NO LONGER sell off this lens since your shaking will cause AF mis-allignment  , after this we to TABAO this lens sent back to Canon Malaysia (to return back to Canon)  ...after than he somemore repeated the same thing to another staff (gang of him - only 2 fella there) by saying...."hey....DO U Have any friend wanted this lens since now the lens CANNOT BE sell anymore.....let sell cheap cheap like RM500-600) to your friend or later our shop just 'absorb' the lens cost.....

My friend was like WTF...   why they are SO RUDE and So ABSURD !....To me is that...COME ON ! Canon lens CANNOT hand cannot handle handshaking ???  This lens (50mm F1.4) somemore NO Image Stabilizer...and he dare to said such a stupxx thing ??? Holy....no wonder alot of ppl commented nowadays CANON service is getting bad to worse......

Sigh....

So their rudeness is leading to push and sell a 50mm F1.4 for RM 500-600?  That's cheaper than 2nd hand.  Use their rudeness and stupidity against them.  For a good condition Canon 50mm F1.4 for RM 500 is a crazy bargain.  I'd buy it even if I didn't want it.  Can resell straight to another shop for profit. 

Next time I go there and shake the 5d mark 3.  And hope they say "wah cannot sell anymore you must buy for RM 3000!"

7D2 is attractive as it's a full frame. But have to sale off current lens. And my SD card all canot use oledi.

I'm thinking of upgrade but just not sure how far should I go. The price differences is not so huge also. Got to think about it carefully.

my friend did challenging them back but their smiley doggy face just refuse to sell @ 500-600. Obviously they 'played' my friend la....

If don't mind, a good second hand 7D still a great camera...

70d n 7d n 7d2, sensor not much different on the color noise.7D more towards robust usage n faster still image at cheaper price compare with 7d2. 70d more advantages on video. even 7d is consider old camera but still capable camera compare with 70d on still image.

Where bro, i maybe interested to pickup an L since it is EF mount, can use on my film canon too.

台幣15,600元 <=-- that's A LOT cheaper than EF 24-105 F4L IS USM you know.

Going by the article, let's assume it's RM 1,800. A 24-105L is still holding SRP RM 3,999.00.

Street price, new around 3.5k.

The thing about those cheap units is that it's about luck, and it's about people sitting there hunting often or chance upon it. Not everyone is that type of user.

Some people may have just inherited an old 5D and want a new lens to use without going through the hassle of hunting, initiate trade, test and all. Not everyone has the luxury of time.

Some people are new, and they lack confidence to COD and such.

The EF 24-105 STM helps with that, even at RM 1,800 it's almost half the price of 24-105L. For a casual user who wants to shoot and not particular about aperture size then it's a very reasonable option.

Never know a child might be interested in photography, so the father passes to him his old 5D and buys the 24-105 STM for learning purpose.

The general consumer are not the one on forum.

Not everyone's like that. That's why shops at 1-Utama like Shong Lee can survive nicely, and many other camera shops. Plenty of people still buy at SRP.

When photography is not their total interest, people will just buy from wherever they can. Those consumers, many don't go to places like YL Pudu. Heck I haven't been to YL Pudu either.

The one you posted also is random, you go that shop I'm sure it's not always having 24-105L at that price. Furthermore it's import set, clearly from an import set body.

Can't compare with PROMO price.

Looks good, good use of light to bring out the texture of the fish. I don't think I can do any much better if given this dish.

Nice, i thought it's bounced flash.

Needs tripod though, and the problem is consistency.

that's why i don't post much here, not the type that talks gear. worse person to consult when it comes to gear too.

Actually very simple. Just that you need long exposure and use your torchlight to move around. LED video lights works too, I use flash for light painting as well.

It's not a good way to do photography because it lacks consistency BUT for simple shots, it saves a lot of time and in some cases can make it creative or better too.

The key is to understand exposure and how the lights work.

long exposure have to consider the environment light, but even at daylight, with ND, u also barely can get beyond 1s. (i got a cheapo 10x ND, and tried myself)

set the ISO at low, and aperture at smaller value, you can prolong the shutter speed, of course tripod is a must.

OOo, i wanna learn that too.. cause i saw a lot of people have long exposure.
Like taking train, highway.
Some i very suprise how they take it in a well lit area, maybe ND filter?

this is correct. in some ways you do get more control.

I use it for my casing photography too. There was once my flash ran out of battery so I'm down with only 1 flash.

Well, I'm jumping ship to Sony. Considering cheapo A7 and lightweight goodness. The lens selection is shit, the LCD is shit, the EVF kinda shitty but after shooting weddings with it I found that its actually not as bad as I thought without having the ability to AF with my lenses.

I don't plan to open a sales thread in LYN so just gonna share here to see if anyone interested for cheap grabs and maybe as a 2nd body.
