Something really weird happens today... sweat.gif
Today, i just bought at Vantec Aeroflow TMD [Tip Megnatic Drive] 70mm fan.
And i fixed it on my Noctua NC-U6...

You guys wanna know what i got after fixing the fan on the Noctua NC-U6 on the chipset?

I've got 45degrees!!! mad.gif
What the hell? doh.gif

I thought by fixing a fan on the NC-U6, the chipset will be cooler than using the NC-U6 on passive mode...

Then, i turn off the fan, and the temps drops a lot man!!!
It goes back to 32degrees!!!

Hmm...
Weird...

Does this means that the Noctua NC-U6 can only work on passive mode?
Does it means that it is not advisable to use a fan on the NC-U6 sweat.gif

Coolice, try take out the fan that you've fixed on you're own NC-U6, then look at the temperature, does the temperature drops?

Weird...
Anyone else that uses NC-U6, try fit either a 70mm @ 60mm fan on the NC-U6, and take a look at the temperatures, do you experience the same thing as i do?

Weird liao... sweat.gif

Can anyone explain why? rclxub.gif

u fix the board in case now?i tried but with fan on decreased 2c only
possible the air blowing by TMD is interfere with ur case flow?
or noctua is design for low speed fan?
*
Yes, the motherboard is in my casing...
You mean, while the fan is on, the temps decreased 2 degrees only?

Or while the fan is off the temps decreased 2 degrees?

Don't understand sweat.gif

About the the air blowing is interfere with my case air flow, i'm not really sure bout that, but, will it affect the temps of my chipset?

Sorry, newbie about air flow here... sweat.gif

About noctua is designed for low speed fan, i thought about the same thing too, maybe the design are just the same with scythe ninja, who knows...

But still, it's giving me a headache... rclxub.gif

mind to how u fit the noctua and the fan blowing toward which way..better if got pic tongue.gif
*
The noctua is fitting facing the 8800GTS card, and the fan is blowing directly to the card...

I don't think it's sucking hot air from somewhere else... rclxub.gif

haha..mine is vice versa..sucking air from back of graphic card and blow toward proc laugh.gif
have u try lower speed with TMD on noctua?5v or 7v perhaps
*
Tried, it's running at lowest speed [set in bios]
It's full speed is 6000RPm, and when i set it to run at lowest speed, it is set to run at 3000RPm...

Full speed or lowest speed, it's just the same, no improvement at all... rclxub.gif
When i turn on the fan, i can see that the chipset heatsink fins is cool, but not the northbridge itself, the heatsink cools down, but the northbridge temps rises up... doh.gif

QUOTE(Kataro @ Jan 21 2007, 10:31 PM)
Maybe after it blow the hot air to the 8800GTS , the hot air tendang balik from the 8800GTS to the NC-06?... unsure.gif
*
Don't think so, as the NC-U6 is kinda far from the graphic card.
It's too far to let the hot air to be rounded up back to the fan back again. sweat.gif

U gila ka, i'm still not fully enjoying my NC-U6, now u want me to get that CNB-R1...? sweat.gif

Not yet liao, after it's proved that the CNB-R1 could beat or maybe be on par with NC-U6 on passive cooling, i will buy it.

Now i'm concentrating on getting a speaker. hmm.gif

now bang shawty i praise u for finding taht one..i know ive been a bit critic of u lately... no hard feelings...ok... neway that heatsink will beat alot of heatsink out theres.... but..u will need to use a fan for max performance.... if u use passive, u will get normal performance, as these pins style hsfs are desinged for active coolind... anyway i still recommend a hr-05 for everything. for its price its kick ass.... its only expensive here..if u check in newegg sometimes its only 15.99 usd....
*
Huh? blink.gif
U did critic me?

When? laugh.gif

Haih, this is a forum liao, if you take someone's word as offensive, you won't live long enough in this forum
*I'm talking about gozila84* tongue.gif

But, what you've said is kinda true about how to push that heatsink to the max with active cooling.

But the problem is, how are you going to fit a fan on that CNB-R1? sweat.gif

Kinda hard to think of a way to put a fan on that heatsink... sweat.gif

Uglyvamp is organising a 8800GTS bulk now, why don't u pm him regarding the NB-400CU? smile.gif

It's better to wait for a week for the delivery from uglyvamp than waiting forever just to find someone's who's willing to sell that heatsink to you in here. sweat.gif

Thanx for the suggestion guys.
Seems the best choice will be the VC-RE/VC-RF since i'm tight on budget. I'd like the HR-05 SLI but just out of my budget.
@Shawty, can give special discount ar?

But i have another question here, will the VC-RF fit directly without any modding? Cz VC-RE is a vga/chipset cooler while VC-RF is only labelled as a vga cooler. Just curious.
*
Special discount aa?
Cannot la boss.. laugh.gif

Anyway, i don't think there should be any clearance problem fitting VC-RF on you're motherboard.

It should be a perfect fit. thumbup.gif
