I still think that Noctua U6 will win. More heatpipe WINS!

Remember to use silent fan on the NC-U6. smile.gif

As high speed fan won't work on NC-U6.
Plus, if you use high speed fan for the NC-U6, it will result to high vibration which is not good for your chipset which will result to bad contact between the chipset and the base.

And when the contact between the base and the chipset is bad, the thermal transfer wont be good.

If you have a way to find those rubber strips like what you get in either Noctua NH-U12F and in the Thermalright Ultra 120 packaging, then that's good. The rubber strips will lower the vibration produced by the fan.

I suggest using either 60MM @ 700MM fan that runs on not more than 2000RPM

Does SB chipset get affected in terms of temperature when OCing like the NB?

Good question, i've always been thinking about the same thing. laugh.gif
Can anyone help us in answering this question? hmm.gif

so how about extreme sprit from TT? is it good? coz i just brought it for my nforce650i chipset.. dunno how to check the temp .. speedfan there so many ..dunoo which 1..
*
IMO, looking at the base of Extreme spirit II from TT is too thick, that's not good liao.
When the base is too thick, it takes a very long time for the heat to be transferred from the base to the heatpipes. smile.gif

I vote for NC-U6 too.
Why go for HR-05 SLi when it's proven to be beaten by NC-U6? laugh.gif

NC-U6 reduces chipset temperature up to 5 degrees lower than HR-05 SLi. smile.gif

Currently my DFI's board chipset around 51C, when load can goes up 57, even after i changed to Zalman 1, unless i use a table fan blow directly only temp will drop till 45C++

Any solution to this high temp? icon_question.gif
*
Simple, upgrade to a better chipset heatsink. laugh.gif

ANy recommendation for cheap and good chipset cooler?I am looking for a new southbridge cooler for my mobo and dont really have any idea on which to get..The condition is, it must be square at the bottom as there are some capasitors that are very near to the chipset which is blocking..

I am actually looking into these from Zalman for a cheap solution but is there anything better and cheaper?

I wanted to reuse my Zalman NBF47 but the base is square and i dont wanna risk it not covering fully of my southbridge..
*
IMO, the gold one is better, as it'll be easy to fix a fan on top of it compared to the blue one. thumbup.gif

So, after 37 pages of discussion  sweat.gif, what is the best chipset cooler?

Planning to get one which can fit the chipset lying just below the GC.  doh.gif
*
The best would be Noctua NC-U6, but then, Noctua NC-U6 won't fit on your motherboard chipset since the chipset is right under the graphic card.

The best for your motherboard would be HR-05 SLi. smile.gif

Anyone tried any particular fan on the NC-U6 before?Wanted to add one to try it out and see as well as on the HR-05 SLI i am getting soon. Will it have a better effect and what size of fan to fit?
*
You can use a 70mm fan to be fitted on the NC-U6.
But, becareful on one thing.

You must find a 70mm fan that is very low in speed & very low in vibration AKA uses ball bearing.

This is because NC-U6 doesn't work well with high speed fan.
I've tried with three 70mm fan before, and what i found is, when i'm using low speed 70mm fan with ball bearing, that fan gives me the lowest temps compared to another two fans which is high in speed and another one is not using ball bearing.

Another question here.
From this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/461742
He stated that the DFI N680i NB might be sold seperately from the package. In that case, do you guys feel this MB can compete with the likes of Noctua and TR?I like the  way they incorporate fins at the bottom which is useful in dissapating heat. And i like the design as well..With copper bottom and clips for additional fans.
*
I know about that heatsink.
But the thing about it will be sold separately is almost impossible.

How much will it be?
I bet the price will be much much higher than an NC-U6 or HR-05 SLi.

When will DFI Start selling it then?
You know how slow DFI in everything that they do. shakehead.gif

Yea, i know that. If its really higher, then maybe something is wrong somewhere cause IF its not supplied together and priced higher, who would wana buy that if they bought the DFI mobo...And yea, DFI is always slow.Surely something better would be coming soon..

No man, u've misunderstood what i just said. sweat.gif
What i mean is, that heatsink does come together with the DFI Lanparty UT 680i motherboard, but, it is also available for sale separately if someone is interested in buying it for their own motherboard.

Capiche? smile.gif

One more thing, bro sHawTY, care to recommend any fans that you used on the NC-U6 that works well?and what do you mean by low speed? At least lower than what rpm?Thanks..

I don't remember what fan i use for my previous NC-U6 [before i sold my NC-U6 tongue.gif ].
What i can remember is, i bought that 70mm fan at Vcool's shop. smile.gif

The speed oso kenot remember la, it's been a long time d. sweat.gif

PCCooler HB-771s northbridge heatsink is very very good!
Reduces 20°C compared to stock northbridge heatsink on my DFI Infinity P965-S motherboard! wub.gif

Northbridge voltage is on 1.35Volts.

Stock Northbridge heatsink on 1.35Volts: 65°C sweat.gif
PCCooler HB-771s on 1.35Volts: 40°C wub.gif
