QUOTE(E-J@1 @ Apr 2 2007, 05:03 AM) damn, that's a one cool design cooler Not to mention it is originally built onto the DFI board.. QUOTE(akachester @ Apr 1 2007, 10:00 AM) Guys, need some oppinion here... I know there are 2 types of chipset available. One is a chipset with heatspreader where the chipset size is very big while another is without the heatspeader. If my SB is with heatspreader, could i use a zalman cooler which has a smaller base on it? EG: [attachmentid=211894] The base of my zalman cooler is smaller than the chipset heatspreader of my sb.Could i still use the Zalman to replace the original DFI without any problem? Anyone can help me here?

QUOTE(Kataro @ Apr 2 2007, 11:54 AM) I think can gua coz normally the die inside will be at center, so placing the cooler at center should be able to cool it... the only think you need to consider is will the pin hole fit?... just my opinion... Yea i understand that. This is because my NB is just a small die in the center where all i need to do is place the NB cooler at the small die.But this one is having its own heatspreader that makes me wonder a smaller cooler bottom can be fitted or not..Anyway, thanks alot...

Does SB chipset get affected in terms of temperature when OCing like the NB?

QUOTE(DaRkSyThE @ Apr 4 2007, 08:59 PM) the first question is what is the SB used for. from there, u will get ur answer *hint* it doesnt AFAIK * Well, as far as i know from my mobo, it is something called ULI chipset that is used to control sata port or maybe something else. But i am still not sure though.. Anyway, the reason i am asking is because my current SB is kinda hot when i touched it.Many chipset cooler might not fit due to the reason of some capasitor are very near.If ocing my causes the heat to increase, it might be a problem though..

QUOTE(gsan @ Apr 6 2007, 11:32 AM) not sure for every SB, but for my previous ABIT NF7/NF7-S, NVIDIA MCP, it does. When I oc the FSB too high, eg. above 250MHz, the PS2 keyboard and mouse will freezen, but the system still running as the music still playing and BT still running. The problem solved when I put HSF on the SB which initally naked. what's the dimension for the SB heatsink of your mobo? if it's 40mm x 40mm, you can attach a fan directly above it. I think it should be around that size.Roughly the same size as the Noctua NB cooler's base.I thought of changing it to my previous Zalman Nb cooler but the Zalman's base isnt as big as the SB.Now, i intend to get the Enzotech NB cooler to replace the stock sb heatsink..

This is the chipset i am saying.Any idea what it is used for and can it use a aftermarket cooler that has a smaller base than it?

Do you guys think that the Enzotech chipset cooler able to perform on par (if not better) than those heatpiped Chipset cooler like NC-U6 and HR-05 SLi

Have a question here that just struck my mind..
Many currently released mobo already come with heatpipe and such technology where all the chipset, pvm, mosfets are connected using heatpipes. So, does this means that they do not need aftermarket chipset cooler if they were to OC?Would they withstand the heat and pressure? If it wouldnt, how could you replace it with an aftermarket chipset cooler?

QUOTE(vailance @ Apr 18 2007, 08:42 PM) so wat is the good NB cooler for nforce chipset? coz im worrying too big 1 will block the cpu cooler e.g silent knight from asus Currently, 2 of the best around should be the Noctua NC-U6 and the TR HR-05/SLI..I am not sure which is better but i do feel these 2 are the best around..

QUOTE(Zicron @ Apr 19 2007, 01:08 AM) Lol..if I upgrade to noctua 1, how if I'm goin for SLI nex time? Now the zalman heatsink edi block the 7900GS on 1st PCIEX16, and i hv to put my 7900GS on the 2nd PCIEX16 Well, there is always HR-05SLI out there which are able to solve this problem of clashing with the GC..

QUOTE(Zicron @ Apr 20 2007, 12:42 PM) Will NC-U6 fit in my motherboard if i setup SLI? if you are not using long GC and big GC cooler, it should not be a problem as its kinda flexible..

ANy recommendation for cheap and good chipset cooler?I am looking for a new southbridge cooler for my mobo and dont really have any idea on which to get..The condition is, it must be square at the bottom as there are some capasitors that are very near to the chipset which is blocking.. I am actually looking into these from Zalman for a cheap solution but is there anything better and cheaper? I wanted to reuse my Zalman NBF47 but the base is square and i dont wanna risk it not covering fully of my southbridge.. This post has been edited by akachester: Apr 21 2007, 05:30 PM

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Apr 21 2007, 05:39 PM) IMO, the gold one is better, as it'll be easy to fix a fan on top of it compared to the blue one. Icic, thanks for the idea. But i think i would really run it passively if possible.Cause if i wana run it with fan, i would add the fan directly to my current sb cooler..hm..Just wondering would it be sufficient.

QUOTE(Zicron @ Apr 22 2007, 10:24 PM) The blue is the 1 i currently using, quite hot on my expert And the gold one very rare, hard to find in LYP @.@ Well, i dont mind if its not that good.It must at least be better than my current one cause my SB is kinda hot. I will check out at LYP today and see whether i could find it or not.I actually first saw the CM NB cooler that look so much like the Zalman for replacement but it uses thermal tape which i dont like cause i cant find them.. Wouldnt that be too big?I guess the mounting should be steady and strong enough just to hold onto this. And with the amount of work going to be done, i guess getting an already proven good chipset cooler is better..
