bro both are almost similar..bt imo the hr-05 is beter coz the heat has less distance to travel in the heat pipe to the fins..bt the sli version is also good as it is more compatible with more motherboareds....
*
ic...that will be great...but I just search for the hr-05 sli from thermalright website and found that the sli one might be too big for my current motherboard where it will block by the cpu cooler or the gc or the ram... cry.gif

maybe I should buy hr-05 first, then next time change to hr-05 sli and the hr-05 maybe can put on southbridge, hopefully... drool.gif

You've got it wrongly... sweat.gif

If u're using a motherboard that is Intel chipset based motherboard, then the normal HR-05 is the best for the northbridge...

While the southbridge, it's better for you to use the HR-05 SLI... thumbup.gif

Even the hottest chipset also around ~10W niah. I think in most cases it would be an issue of:

1) Cacing wires all over the place = airflow issue
2) Improper assembly/mounting of the stock cooler.

Rather than the stock sink itself.

Personally I think changing to a huge a$$ aftermarket cooler is more bling rather than anything....or for quietness.

Besides...hardly anybody ever kill their boards from overcooked chipset.

Obviously if taruh Vmch kau kau... = a hotter chipset lar

But you don't need a HR for this... personally I always just replace the stock thermal crap and at most pop a fan that blows around the area kau tim already.

High temps of course is not good but I still that in most cases here, it's an airflow issue.... having lotsa huge towers is not gonna help.

Sure..it brings the heat upwards but what this also means is there's no air going around the surface of the board...to the even hotter area --> PWM.

For those DS3 crowd... pop a cheapo 40mm fan and whack some AS5 kau tim di

For those heatpiped crowd (like P5B-Dlx) ...just remove the glued on coverings already kau tim.

For capalang casing & capalang psu like mine, this is always an issue...the space is small...the cable is short and not enough for put many fan... cry.gif sweat.gif

yawn.gifT:now the psu really issue to me...it is not stable and when I add more fan to it, it become even more unstable...mine only 350w and it is not true power...so what you think...last time I have 400w which come with casing but spoil already...even stable than current one...my fault coz want to buy it cheap (350w)...only RM40 niah... cry.gif

Edited to add: I just found out that there is no more Enermax FMA 460w sold at lowyat... cry.gif cry.gif

I agree with you.PWM area is very hot....I heard my fren he said he paste some heatzink on the area for his mobo and he told me that this method helps....
