Hi All Sifus,

Does this mediapad X1 compatible with android wear, seems not able to install at all, thanks for the feedback.
*
You need to update to at least the KitKat 4.4 ROM. Android Wear is only supported on 4.3 and above.

yes ..using mhl

Do note there are 2 types of MHL, one 5pin and one 11pin.

5 pin MHL is the industry standard and used by everyone except Samsung. Not sure if Huawei disabled this feature in the Lollipop ROM.

11 pin is used exclusively by Samsung and not downwards compatible with non-Samsung devices.

Is this mediapad x1 still good to buy? Any issues?
*
The X1 a good device with fantastic connectivity for Wifi and LTE, and there aren't any real issues as such, but since the X2 is already out, why not get that?

It's almost physically identical to the X1, but with a faster processor, although it might be costlier now due to our currency depreciation.

X1 RRP is RM1299, but should be cheaper elsewhere. X2 RRP might be 1499, seeing the M2 is also at that price.

Do you feel the P8 Max is worth the 2k considering that the Lenovo Phab Plus is only 1k ?

Welcome to tumpang. I guess the Mediapads M2, T2, X2 can fall under the same umbrella.

I was once told by a Huawei person that the Tablet team is separate from the phone team, and it does seem the phone team is getting more limelight. Tablets are like an afterthought.

Greetings.
My x1 screen cracked. Do you guys know where to repair, replace the digitizer and how much? Thanks. Btw my x1 still under warranty.
*
Best to send it in to a Huawei center. They have one behind Amcorp Mall in PJ, not sure about other locations.

However, the screen might not be worthwhile to fix although you could ask the price.

After spending a few hours of reading, I must say that my hope for xposed framework to work with x1 is shot down.

It seems that it is emui 3 that is preventing xpose from being installed or  to work properly.

Therefore, it doesn't matter if it is B011 or B013 or B113 (Android 5.1.1)

Therefore, if I want to use xposed, I have no choice but to downgrade to EMUI 2.x

sad .... sad .... sad

Good hardware but must be tied to emui.

At one time, I almost wanted to sell x1 and get an 8 inch tablet together with a 5.5 inch phone. But  the hardware of x1 with its big battery and all that changed my mind.

Now, this problem of having to chose emui and forget about enjoying the benefits of xposed is .......
*
Well, use Nova launcher ? Never did like the fawning over that other platform which the Chinese OEMs are very fond of.

I am back to B017 malaysian rom for 501L.

Xposed is installed and one handed mode worked.

Will wait for the final version of Lollipop (Android 5.1.1/Emui 3.1) before deciding whether to upgrade. After upgrading, will again check with the compatibility of xposed with emui 3.1 before deciding whether to keep Android 5.1.1 or downgrade to Android 4.4.x

Besides the X2, i really cannot find another worthy 7 inches or 8 inches Phablet to replace the X1.

It is hard to find a replacement for the X1.
In terms of light weight, big screen size, speed performance, the Lenovo tab S8 or the Asus memopad 8 are nice but I know that I will never be satisfied with the Battery and camera as compared to the X1.

Xperia Z Ultra might be the only one on par with the X1 but I suspect that the battery life will not be as good as the X1. And I am not a fan of the bravia engine, Sony uses for their camera.

Lenovo Phab Plus is more heavy in weight than the X1. for a 7 inch, the device must be lighter than the X1 to get my attention. Yet, it must not compromise with good battery. Until now, the X1 with its hardware configuration and design is still the winner ... that is if we are not concern for too high speed and cpu performance.

Want to sell also don't know what to buy. So, i will just keep the X1

Thanks joytest

i will research a bit about this model - Mediapad m2 8.0 (I do llike 8 inch screen very much but I am not sure whether I can get used to carrying a small bag for the 8 inch tablet wherever I go. smile.gif

While waiting for the final release of Lollipop, I will use B017 malaysian rom on my X1.

I must say that I am a bit curious about the KangVip custom rom for the X1. It is hard to get information on whether Kang's B011 503L rom with EMUI 3.1 is compatible with Xposed framework or not.

I already understand that xposed framework doesn't work with x1 and x2 when the original unmodified EMUI 3.0 theme engine is installed.
*
I have read that the M2 10" will support an active stylus, but not sure if the 8" model can support it as well.

If the 8" supports the active stylus too, I will probably get it.

Since I am using it for corporate email, I won;t be able to root my device (unfortunately) but we'll see...

cphilip

Lenovo Tab S8 has good specs but seems development is stopped. But you can get it for cheap though, I think RM799 a couple of months ago, since it is EOL. Someone on XDA has been trying to get it to run Windows 10, not sure on the progress now.

Dell is not a phone, but specs are otherwise similar to the Tab S with a beautiful screen. Shame it doesn't have an active digitizer. And shame on Samsung for not putting an active digitizer on the Tab S series.

For the 7" segment, either Huawei P8Max or Lenovo Phab Plus can be similar, but Phab Plus seems a little underpowered, whereas the P8Max is very expensive.

Note that only the 10" M2 has the active digitizer. No mention of the technology behind it, but I suspect it should be Wacom. It seems the max model with 3Gb RAM, 64Gb storage and LTE is priced around USD469, and if it is a phone too it will be a bonus.

I saw it available in a Huawei retail outlet in KL, not Low Yat. I just can't recall where. Either KLCC or Sunway Putra Mall.

RM1299.

That is pricy for such an old model
Few months ago I saw it was selling for rm1100 at my town
*
Yup, absolutely. Huawei is doing this simply because they are not bringing in the newer model.

I have a hope for the M2 10" though, it might be 1899 or 1999 for the premium model, and hopefully beats the crap out of the Samsung Tab S.

I can't understand why marketing people segment tech stuff which they don't really understand and screw it all up.

Hi all,
I want to upgrade my 501L to 503L. I'm a little bit worried about the software that comes with 503L rom. Can anyone advise me and share their experiences with 503L.
Thank you.
*
The 503L has more active updates, since there is quite a large userbase for the X1 in China.

There are even a couple of custom roms, although you may have to struggle if you don't read Chinese.
