hhng,

Thanks for your reply and the steps to flash 503L roms into 501L X1.

Love to hear more about your experiences with Android 5.1.1 on the X1.

Did you manage to root it and get SuperSU installed?

Can user still choose the storage location between the emulated sd and the microsd?

How is battery life compared to Kit Kat?

How is wifi/2g/3g/ signals? LTE ? Bluetooth?

Very tempting to upgrade even though it is still a BETA.
*

supersu root still waiting for better prompted way to root other than using KIngroot PC (Win)

Depending on app.. some app allow to switch to sd after install

battery life im still getting 7-8sot

wifi signal for x1 is not among the strongest for phablet... even flash to lollipop... no significant improvement

3g/4g i have no issue so far

I'm very happy with my Mediapad x1 but one issue is getting to me. I've installed Chrome but unable to get it to become the default browser. Tried to go into the Huawei Browser and clear defaults but the option is greyed out with no defaults set. Chrome options for are also the same. There is no option in the Default App Settings too for the Browser under Manage Apps > Default App Settings.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance

Okay, Ive found out from XDA that one of the ways is to disable Huawei Browser from Manage Apps and it worked so far....

Hi

most of the 501L users don't flash the 501L modem after passing to 503L ROM. We used to at the beginng, but some users just didn't mange to, and then we discovered that the 4g 501L only frequecies we accessible even with the basic 503L modem.

As far as I know, but I didn't retry earien on, since the release of 501L B103 european ROM.

If you have recently notice some improvement by flashnig 501L modem, let me now!

thx

You need to update to at least the KitKat 4.4 ROM. Android Wear is only supported on 4.3 and above.

Hi Ichigo,

Just got the phablet, how to upgrade to 4.4.2 is it official? Tried online update, status "No updates found."
Where should obtain the update files? So this should be "Local update"?
Should this void the warranty?
Please advice.

Thanks ichigo79 and joytest.

hi

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56384204...
For emui3.0 beta

http://forum.xda-developers.com/huaw.../general/rom-t3226547
For emui3.1 lollipop beta

Simple explanation on flashing china rom
since we are using 501L the different between 501L and 503L is about the radio/modem hardware..
so basically we are going to FAKE our device to 503L dual sim with the developer Radio/modem for 501L
The end of the day our device 501L will be shown as 503L so we can upgrade all the china rom
Usually u will need to flash the 501L radio package that imitate our device to 503L
after u flash the radio zip (mostly lesser than 50mb), den u will be allow to upgrade to 503L rom

to update to lollipop u will have to update from
1)emui 2.3 to emui 3.0 kitkat using 2 file micro sd local update method
2)emui 3.0 kitkat to emui3.1 lollipop with similar method

hope this clear

Thanx for the links on this. My Mediapad X1 is back in use again after a few months of neglect. Loving EMUI3.1, makes the Mediapad feel like a new device. I was already on B011, so it was a breeze to go to lollipop from there.

Can I ask how are you using HDMI ? Is it via an MHL cable?

Do note there are 2 types of MHL, one 5pin and one 11pin.

5 pin MHL is the industry standard and used by everyone except Samsung. Not sure if Huawei disabled this feature in the Lollipop ROM.

11 pin is used exclusively by Samsung and not downwards compatible with non-Samsung devices.

to downgrade from lollipop beta, you'll have to extract .img files from your desired destination ROM zip file (use the soft "huawei update extractor"), install adb on your computer, and then "fastboot flash" the img files (system.img, and maybe boot.img)
