QUOTE(iwannaberich @ Dec 1 2014, 07:00 AM) Hello all, In my opinion, market is pretty saturated in Klang Valley.I've always loved Lego since young and with my daughter falling deep with Friends theme, I do think Lego has strong potential still after decades. Would any of the enthusiasts advice on investing and opening a Lego store in a shopping mall in Klang Valley? Would the profit margin enough to cover the store expenses? What are the challenges and limitation that retailers are facing? Thanks! You really need to be unique to stand out and most likely have to compete fiercely in prices. Most likely in the near future, an official Lego store is inevitable. When that time comes, it'll be tougher for you to compete against the exclusives offered at the Lego store. However, it's not to say that you can't compete, as Lego store only has RRP. Also note that official stores have VIP points program which means a converted 5% off and sometimes double or triple points is available. In Germany (OK, not the best comparison), I tend to buy from official Lego store for their exclusives only, but always go to the nearby shopping mall or other online toy stores for bargains as they almost always have at least 10% off RRP. From a consumer point of view, the more the merrier as we get more choices! |

QUOTE(maxilife1 @ Dec 1 2014, 05:27 PM) not a theme... I'm not sure what's the logic behind the price increase. I believe in Lego Online stated set was "hard to find" or "sold out". just ship that i like and can afford..haha still looking for black pearl with good price.. but must get townhall 1st before price really shoots up.. and i am confuse why townhall so fast retired.. townhall - 2012 release petshop - 2011 release u dont see sudden increase price for petshop???? huhu Rumors/new spread that it's probably retiring soon resulting in mass panic and increased demand. Set wise, it is a huge/complete building (still tallest Modular iinm). Not a half-half like the Pet Shop and upcoming Detective Agency (boo!). I'm still hoping for a Modular Police station like the Fire Brigade. This post has been edited by Bigfoot-X: Dec 1 2014, 06:00 PM |

Millennium Falcon 7965 is sold out on LEGO S@H Europe.
In the USA, it's "Call to check for availability". I was in Toys'r'us for Black Friday and they were having 20% off so the set was about EUR108. There should be stock still in the retail channels, but LEGO seems to have run out. Not sure if they will produce more as the next Star Wars movie is out in a year. So, look out for a newer version soon. |

Its the biggest set compare to all modular in box size. 2) There are too many modular series set currently in production. After the GE and TH goes, current set down to 4 which are the PS, PC, PR and 2015 DO. There is still slim hope that the TH will still be in production, its just Lego can't cope with the Sales leading up to Christmas. |

Seems like very fast leh. 4 weeks to next year But really la, aih, those unique figs so few, impossible kids do not like unique figs. . . It just seems like Series 12 was just released and the next one is revealed. Then now local PAB also increased price. Never PAB before la but pricing going up does not sound good to me. Think I need to slow down on this hobby already... |

QUOTE(kelvinlym @ Dec 1 2014, 04:28 PM) In my opinion, market is pretty saturated in Klang Valley. Thanks kelvinlym for your opinion. If retail is hard to survive, what do you think about distribution? I understand that since Lego Trading Malaysia has been setup, they have been distributing to local retailers, as what ALJ has been doing. Do you think slowly Lego Malaysia will cease ALJ distributorship? I'm not sure if ALJ is parallel importing from other suppliers or from Denmark hq. If ALJ is parallel importing, can we do the same? Of course investment will be more compared to retailing but I'm very interested to explore the distribution possibility. Perhaps, some local resellers here are willing to combine effort and form a distributor themselves? You really need to be unique to stand out and most likely have to compete fiercely in prices. Most likely in the near future, an official Lego store is inevitable. When that time comes, it'll be tougher for you to compete against the exclusives offered at the Lego store.
