Hehehe.....don't get delirious bro. I've done extensive research on the Prince engine and will put an end to all your fears! I think you'll owe me a couple of beers for this info!

The person who wrote this is obviously not an owner of a Pug. I can say this from the statement he makes,it's a cut and paste of the Prince engine problems. If he was an owner and experienced the problems, he'd surely know what depollution problem is.

1st rule of thumb.....don't blow your fuse on what is said by a non owner! These jackos are just cut and paste kings!

Now, is the Prince notorious for engine problems.....yes! I will not deny this and it still is! By now your blood pressure must be rising. Cool, cool bro,the notoriously problematic Prince engine is the THP 140. Premature carbon buildup, takes place as early as 20k km. This triggered depollution error signal. Turbo units on this Prince have failed due cracked pressure outlet. Photo of the cracked turbo unit below. Remember this one was on the THP 140. HP Fuel Pumps have failed.

Then came THP 156, was much improved. ECU was retuned which solved 95% of the problems faced on the THP 140. I believe prolonged passive driving habits contributed to a certain portion of the problems on the THP156. Personally I've not been satisfied  on what was done here, since a direct approach was not taken to rectify reliability issues. ( this is only 2cents worth). ECU retuned to solve some issues is actually an indirect approach.

Finally the THP 163, the engine on 408t. Redesigned all components with reliability issues. 8 mods were carried out towards reliability. Here's a summary:

1)Engine tuned to run on RON 87 petrol
2) Remapped ECU
3) New designed piston with lower compression
4) New designed catalyzer.
5) New engine oil filter housing with heat exchanger
6) New turbo charger
7) New fuel tank gauge unit with lower pressure pump to handle lower grade petrol.
8) A fuel filter to cater for hash atmospheric condition ( third world country)

Redesigned pistons make a difference in preventing premature carbon buildup. I did post sometime back, the effect of the new design and how this exactly works. If you need to know more details, just back track. Turbo unit completely redesigned,no more craked units complaints.

EP6CDTM on 408 has proved very reliable. Right now the new 308,3008 and 408 are fitted with this engine. Would not surprise me to see greater use of this engine. I have posted the 8 mods previously,am glad to post again to bring about greater awareness of the reliability of this engine.

Finally "less than stellar direct injection"  is the panicle of nonsense! He obviously has no clue this engine is European Engine of the Year Award winner 8 times! This statement declares those European panel of judges non credit worthy!

You still think this guy knows what he talking about!

You da mannnnnn SKYjack. Appreciate the info. Looks like im right when i say that this car has alot of potential.......potential to mod....LOL.....By the way, what in the world is depollution??

As for your beers....Do PM me to redeem....and also set a time....Hahahahaha.....Im serious mate....

'depollution' is a term used by peugeot to denote an error which causes the car to emit excessive emissions above the set amounts/limits as defined by the car's ecu.

so, in essence, it can mean anything that goes wrong that causes the exhaust to sense excessive toxic emissions. some causes could be wrong fuel used, malfunctioning spark plugs, turbo problems, use of wrong viscosity oil, leaks in the induction system and so on and so forth. but in the prince, the key reasons for the 'depollution' term to pop up can be traced to a few key causes. do note, it does appear in other non-turbo models as well but for other reasons.

hope this helps.
*
lowpro....as per your last sentece, What are the few key causes for the "depollution' to pop up???

Thanks....

Ok guys. Moment of truth. Going to make the booking for 408 TE Blue. Any last minute suggestion and concerns from my friends here?

Also my SA is giving Wingard tinting. Any review on this tint though was preferring other brands.

Very keen to put the OEM Touch Screen from peugeot.  Wont void warrant.
*

I don't think spares will be a problem. I believe all 1.6THP for Pugs very soon will be EP6CDTM. Although after 2016 new breed of engines will roll out of PSA, spares for EP6CDTM will continue. Infact it will get cheaper to maintain this engine cos many OEM parts will be available. I believe you'll be able to buy parts from Alibaba.com cheaply. After warranty Alibaba.com will probably turn out my best friend....hehehe!

For example, a turbo unit cost around $16K as Nassim. Alibaba sells the same unit for 500pounds!

Or go kedai potong...Potong from mini cooper S...Should much cheaper....Hahahahaha

Hehehe..........don't look at the DS5 bro. That sexy french chic is an adulteress........hehehe!

I know after telling you so much about the 408t,now I turn to the sexy french chic. The only thing thats stopping me is the price,so expensive la! Sexy chics are never cheap, more so if they are French!
*
DS3 Racing!!!! The black and orange is a killer color combo....I think it looks soooooo much better than the 208GTi....Which i almost bought before finally deciding on 408T.....But no regrets la....Loving it....especially after some minor mods now..... drool.gif drool.gif

By the way....Do you guys know if our car has a ATF/Transmission cooler??? Is the fan infront of the radiator for cooling the tranny as well??? Actually, everytime after turning off the car, the fan will still run for awhile....what is it doing actually?? Cooling the turbo ah??

Thanks....

Hi Guys,

I got some questions about cooling. Hope you guys can enlighten me here.

I know the radiator is to cool then coolant which is then use to cool the engine, piston heads, a/c and other components. What is the big fan infront of out radiator for?

And also, what about ATF? It goes through the same radiator as well for cooling? Or does our coolant cools the ATF as well?

Thank you.....

Hi vknight,  thks for ur reply...i am thinking to buy 3008 but i saw few advertisement stating peugeot 3008 (A) and some Peugeot 3008 (b). So im confius whats the diffrent between a and b
*
Hello.....If you talking about mudah.com, the (A) and (B) is actually referring to the transmission. A = Automatic and B=Both and M=Manual....Its just the format that the website provides to advertiser for them to select. So dont worry too much about it.

In general, they can void your warranty if the part u change is related to another part that needs to be claimed  smile.gif
*
I was told only related parts. Example, if u change your springs and u want to claim disc breaks, most likely will void. If you change springs and want to claim something in engine, chances are still ok.

Hi danishfx,

Mind to share how much and where you got the H&R Sport Springs? And what color is yours? Need some clarification and understanding. Coz some is blue, some is grey and some is black. Mine is black. Perhaps let me know the product number as well??

K&N filter if you have not purchase, you can get it from LYN here. Better price. I got it from Kaito Speed. The seller is Kang Yoon.

How do you plan to do your Twin Pipe Exhaust? Coz our car rear is flat at the bottom. The tip will be below the bottom without any arch to fit the tip? U planning to cut an arch ah??

Thank you my fellow modder..... cool2.gif

Bro mines H&R is black also..get it at RM900..part no will let u know tmr..as the spring at home and thanks for the K&N Air Filter Info..for the twin pipe exhaust, im thinking to add additional bumper extender, then my exhaust tip can place beside it. Its will be something like this. user posted image

danishfx,

Where did you get the H&R Sport Spring from? (From the way i asked, you should know i got it more expensive already cry.gif )

How would the bumper extender help? I cannot imagine. Must potong lubang ah? Coz i got think of doing muffler or muffler tip before. But i did not coz the rear bumper doesnt have an exhaurst tip arch for it to fit in. So the tip will sort of like sit lower than the bumper and protrude out (doesnt look nice).

By the way, once you put the H&R springs, it will not be like a family car anymore. Its ok if you hardly fetch ppl at the back seat. But if you do, you got to drive it VERY VERY carefully. If not, the rear passengers will have a hard time. LOL. Just letting you know my feedback. But take corners now damn shiok la.

If you need the guy's contact for the K&N drop-in, let me know. The price i bought is RM280 including the recharger kit.

Thank you.

Bro look the following picture, than i hope u know how to place the exhaust tip. Ya the H&R Sport Spring i get was the wholesale price. For rear Stiff issue, if u feel not comfort anymore, why not u just use back your rear OEM Spring?  so it will balance back the feel. Thanks again for the K&N Air Filter, my friends offer me at RM150 for the Air Filter Itself and RM60 for the Service Kit.

Im ok with the ride. Coz i hardly fetch ppl on the back seat. I love how it is now. Just letting you know my feedback before you install it mah....Just my humble 2cents

DAMN IT!!!! I feel sooooooooooooo kena conned already. Both items i get also more expensive. WTF?!?!?!?!? vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Next time i need anything i ask you first ok?? Who knows u can get it at a much better price.....Sedihhhh sial.....

You just change spring? Same part as 308 or different? Did u try belstein?
*
Yeah. Just the springs. The H&R Sport Springs i am using is the same as 308.

Bilstein and Koni, i checked already, there is any specification in their website for our 408. But 308 got. I think coz 408 is a China market car, those aftermarket parts manufacturer dont produced specifically for 408. But then again, your tunner can always do a cross check with the part numbers for you to verify is it fits (if they want to do for u).

I do believe our OEM Suspension already stiff enough to control the car, and sport spring can make it solid. Bilstein and Koni they have reputation in Continental Car especially VW, BMW and Merc..price can get cheaper if u buy it in singapore..singapore was an asean distributor.. smile.gif  smile.gif
*
The H&R Sport Springs is just slightly stiffer compared to our OEM springs. Just that it lowers the car (for those who want visual appearance). Lower + stiffer = better road handling. And im enjoying it so much now.......

The issue with Bilstein and Koni is, if you check their vehicle compatibility list, you wont find a 408. Only 308. So, you wont know if that particular model can fit to our 408. Although 308 and 408 share the same chassis, and we can assume that major parts should be the same, but still feel is risky to buy things base on that assumption. Unless the shop people go the extra mile to help you do what they call a cross referencing, then only u know can fit or not. But most of the time, the shop wont do it, coz they also not sure you confirm buy from them or not. After the person tell you can fit, chances are we will all go shopping around for better prices tongue.gif tongue.gif

Normally if i want buy a part, i will try look the part no. Example for 308 Suspension Part No and Compare with 408 Suspension Part No. If this two sharing the same part no, i would not doubt to purchase it, better than asking the workshop.  nod.gif  nod.gif
*
You mean OEM suspension part number?

If it is, i have called clic to check before previously regarding 308 shocks and fit with 408. They said cannot and the shocks are different part numbers. Unless clic tipu or klentong me la..... tongue.gif tongue.gif

Thank you....Hope you dont mind sharing your knowledge and info....Thankssss

ya ours from OEM Player can diagnose the car, my point is to determine weather the griffe infotainment player can have this function too...if cant, means the player are similiar with aftermarket player..so waste money to buy the expensive 1.
*
Okkk....My version is a Griffe.....So...Means can diagnose the car la since its a OEM thing.....But will fiddle tonight....LOL....Sounds damn cool....And i didnt even bother fiddling with it...... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

I thought 408 has bigger butt and heavier, so the spring rating might be different from 308… may be the rear absorber of 308 is shorter??? brows.gif
*
The H&R Sport Springs has 2 variant. The product number is like xxxxxxx-1 and xxxxxxx-2 (cant remember the full product number). The difference between -1 & -2 is the stiffness. The shop told me -2 is a tad harder than -1 and hence he recomend that i use -2 coz the car is heavier...

After read all the post here, ( i took 2 weeks to read  it all ) smile.gif

i went to test drive. tested the 1.6T, and booked one.
I have booked white. Is white easy to  maintain? my choice would be white or silver.
now waiting for loan approve.

Make sure you coat your car. If not very susah. Like me. Every now an then got some light black marks or yellowish mark on the car. Which is very hard to wash off. And then sometimes got uneven color. Gonna do my coating soon. LOL

Wooooooo. The rim colour is very niceeee. Kinda evil looking though. Hahahaa. Niceeeeee...

Dont worry about the lowered height. My car also same. Only the rear is obvious that it has lowered. But front not obvious. 4 finger gap on the front. I will take a pic of my car as well, then we can do some comparison on the height.

Time for you to run in the springs. Whackkkkkkk that corner!!!

Nicely done mate....

By the way....can u share where you plan to do ur smoke rear lights and how much? Also how it is done?

Thanks mannnn......
