Hi Guys. Is it normal to have the ESP, ABS, Engine Oil and Diagnostic indicator to come on when ignition is switched on and dissappear when engine started. Recently i notice this but before dont have.
Thanks.
Not normal, but nothing to worry as long as all messages disappear after engine start and the engine performance is normal.
Here's an explanation as to what is happening. Upon switching on ignition, the electrical system is energized. This activates the system self test of many electronic equipment, especially safety related components. ECU then gets a feedback upon a satisfactory self test whereby all messages/warning lights are cleared.
If any warning light or message stays on after startup, then you have a component failure. Depending on the failure, the engine may not even start. However since your car operates without problems,I'd say it's just an electronic glitch or you are a little quick to start, ie not enough time for system self test completion. Not to worry, enjoy your Lion.
