That line is for the airbag that's installed in the dash. The line should really be on the opposite side and I've never seen any other car with similar configuration having any line appearing, even on other makes. This is clearly a defective dashboard. I personally think the line was cut too deep during the manufacturing process so its showing on the other side. You should request for a new dash.

@vknight
I think Newbie's explanation is exactly the case. It is the outline of the airbag box which should not appear on the top covering. Certainly a manufacturing defect. They have no choice but to fix it for you!

My first long distance drive today. Noticed the following;

A) every time i hit 110 the car vibrates and i feel the steering loose. My wife  and hit the same prob.

B) Car pulling to the left quite a bit especially when my wife drive.

Any idea how to resolve this?
*
A) Front tyres need balancing.
B) Need wheel alignment.

The left pull is common on Pugs. There's still a lot of ppl running with this issue. You can solve it, but only at a skillful wheel alignment shop. I've solved mine.

Looks like your wife's better driver than you la,since she's able to highlight the left pull.....hehehe! biggrin.gif

Surprisingly I got a call from a friend who got the car a few days ago...he was getting vibration at the same speed around 110. Wonder if it is computerized tuning and a manufacturing error.
*
A lot of new owners have complained about this steering vibration. Somehow wheel alignment is not taken seriously during assembly. In fact it's only recently, some Peugeot Blue Box centers have setup wheel alignment equipment. During the early days, after complaining for 1& 1/2 years about my left pull, decided to get alignment done out side.

I'm not sure which SC has alignment equipment. Give it a try, failing which, need to take it to a skillful wheel alignment shop. I think there a many in Klang Valley.

A word of caution: If any of the shops ask you change alignment parts, walk out! They don't know how to handle Peugeot and will only mess it up! No need to change anything. A skillful mechanic will know exactly what to do!

I cannot denounce a possible psychological effect but is possible. Could be several contributing factors.
That particular petrol station did not tamper the formula of RON97.
Maybe paying a little premium, foot a little more attune  biggrin.gif .

Did you realise Pug or any other well maintained cars drive better after a good car wash? Especially self wash.

smile.gif  my MOnday morning cheeky thoughts... Good morning to you.
*
Have to agree with you on better performance after a good wash may include a psychological element...hehehe!

In theory RON 97 will have no additional effect on our engine. This is because the engine is not tuned for it. In fact lots of information on the net claiming waste of money using RON97 on an engine that is not tuned for RON 97.

However each oil company does alter it's Premium fuel one way or another. It may be cleaner additives or performance additives and that's the difference some of you have experienced. Not surprised if the engine runs smoother or better FC, depends on the additive!

Do the math and decide for yourself if RON97 worth your penny!

can be brake pads defective too  blink.gif
*
Possible but rare, cos it's a much simpler manufacturing process than brake disc.

Tempering process of the brake disc is critical which can lead to deformation!Tempering is a heat treatment process for metals which produces a super hard surface. To the naked eye, a surface may look clean and flat, but may be warped by a few thous( thousands of an inch). This is mainly due to poor tempering process.

Don't have to go to far. Read all 3 versions of the 408 forum, you'll realize how reliable the Prince engine has become. This version of Prince was initially fitted only on the 408THP. Due to it's high reliability, this engine is now fitted on all PSA 1.6THP petrol sedan,MPV,SUV.

No wonder it continues to win Europe Engine Award 8 years running!

Front tyres need balancing. Might as well balance all 4.

Hi Guys. Is it normal to have the ESP, ABS, Engine Oil and Diagnostic indicator to come on when ignition is switched on and dissappear when engine started. Recently i notice this but before dont have.
Thanks.
*
Not normal, but nothing to worry as long as all messages disappear after engine start and the engine performance is normal.

Here's an explanation as to what is happening. Upon switching on ignition, the electrical system is energized. This activates the system self test of many electronic equipment, especially safety related components. ECU then gets a feedback upon a satisfactory self test whereby all messages/warning lights are cleared.

If any warning light or message stays on after startup, then you have a component failure. Depending on the failure, the engine may not even start. However since your car operates without problems,I'd say it's just an electronic glitch or you are a little quick to start, ie not enough time for system self test completion. Not to worry, enjoy your Lion. thumbup.gif

Hi all,

Not too sure if anyone can give some advise.

I have had vibration issues with my 408 since day 1 and though i have sent it in to Puchong SC twice, i still can feel it... have changed driveshaft, brake disc and done balancing all in the same SC.

Hopefully someone can advise.

Thanks.
*
As all the above has been done, the next item that can cause vibration is the steering system. Need to strip it down for detail inspection.

As this requires a level of expertise, I would advise you to book a date with Balakong.

Thanks for your insight skyjack.

Also, any idea about a harshness i feel when the wheel are rotating.. it seems if i dont press the gas then the wheel will slow down quite fast
*
If your's is 408t,then harshness is normal. The suspension is sports tuned setup. You can reduce harshness by changing to softer springs, absorbers, larger profile tyres. All these will be at the cost of handling.

May I know if fill 97 Petrol is it good Or better benefit for the engine?

As my understanding our lion able to fill 87 Petrol as well , just want to compare since petrol price decrease at the moment ..
*
There is no additional benefit on using RON 97 on present Pugs, since our engine is not tuned to run on RON 97. Infact there's a lot of info on the net claiming waste of money running on RON 97 on an engine which is not tuned for it. RON 95 certainly does not hurt it and runs very well. I have been on RON 95 for 2&1/2 years, no problems what so ever! If your engine is the old Prince, then RON 97 may be better due to less carbon deposit buildup.

However RON 97 being premium fuel, most fuel retailers mix performance additives to it. This does give the engine a slight boost in power. It is very slight and one does feel it. Some additives may also be a cleaning agent, ppl have reported having a clean engine even after 300Kkm.

IMO, RON 97 may have some benefit. One has to do his own math to decide if it's worth it!

My lion was on Ron95 since day one.. start pumping Ron97 when the price drop (diff of Rm0.20) between Ron95 and Ron97.
My experience so far:
- No extra performance (power, torque)
- Provide smoother ride
- Slightly better mileage (around 15km extra for a full tank)

For an extra of Rm10 on a full tank, it provides smoother ride and slightly better mileage, does it worth?
You make the call
*
As I said different retailers may use different additives. I normally use Petronas RON 95. Tried BHP RON97, felt the following difference:
1. Smoother acceleration
2. Slight boost in power

Did not calculate FC, don't know if better!

Have gone back to RON 95 cos I'm satisfied with it's performance.

I am trying bhp97 and have the same observation  as you bro compared to shell 97. The last i tried with shell 97 i felt very high consumption.

I heard bhp petrol is euro 3 so very less sulphur content compared to others for cleaner engine.
*
Tks for your feedback bro. How is the FC? If you find better FC, then might as well we use this fuel.

Did 50K service yesterday, total damage $1660/-. All fluids changed. Was told my battery needs to be changed. It's firing ok,but I think running low,1&1/2 years old. Someone changed to Bosch DIN 66 for $390. Can post contact of the battery shop? Tq!

Will check with my regular Battery & Tyre shop on price.

Usually i service my car at geotauto and they did mention 50k km service cost around your price....why la diff between sc  vmad.gif
*
Hehehe.....don't get so furious bro! You actually spent less, but I'm not sure if that's best for our Lion!

60K service is major and costly. Some SC carry out some of the items early so that 60K service is a little less costly. Actually you end up spending the same when you addup cost of both 50K & 60K service.

I prefer to change fluids early cos fresh fluids are the lifeline of an engine & GB. I especially don't like dragging ATF change to 3 years.

Just a word to anyone planning to use Geoauto. As of this month Geoatuo is implementing service by appointment. There's a notice at the front door and at all counters.
