While I agree apps can extend the functionality of your device, one thing that really annoys me with my nexus 4 is I find myself constantly saying "i can do this before, why cant i do it now? Why this function now breaks?" Or "i should be able to do this out of the box now, it is 2014!" And comes my friend "there's an app for that"... and I go "no!! It should work out of the box!"

And here I am with Lumia930... Sorry, after been using Android since Gingerbread I expect the OS to be less annoying to me but the opposite happens... Oh, I dont like 3rd party apps to solve my problem, even if they can... it just sounds like somebody is saying "you should develop your own OS to get it behave like you want"... Plus, FM radio FTW!!!!!!

the real problem with Android is after sooo many version they still couldnt fix the scrolling lag/shuttering. It is just very bothering when u scroll, u encounter shuttering even u are on a snapdragon 800 phone like xiaomi mi3.

however in wp8, this does not even happen on a low end phone like lumia 520 which is buttery smooth

Decided to jump from current note2 to L1520, after testing several times mainly on browsing, mainstream social network, and most importantly its excel (wow i can do spreadsheet using a phone shocking.gif )

Hope its no going to be a bad decision.

If u never tried any OS, and WP was ur first.. u wud like it. My guess is, u're so used to iOS and android's UI, u tried WP and immediately went "wth is this UI, tiles? no folders? no icons? so plain Black background, cannot custom ringtones etc.." (like what my wifey said)  sweat.gif

I have all three OSes on 3 diff devices, and each has its own pros/cons. WP probably in short, uses basic specs (512mb) ram yet performance still smooth. (e.g. pls tell me how well does Asphalt 8 runs with 512mb on android)
iPhone 5S.. well, apps galore.  thumbup.gif  Note 3, big screen.. playstore? well, be careful of viruses/malware etc.  sweat.gif

But yeah, I do get that 'boring/confused' expression when frens come n play my lumia 1020..  tongue.gif

well if u leaving your L1020 without updated to developer preview 8.1 i would say u didnt seehow much progress tha wp os made....with 8.1 now u got custom background on tiles (one big background picture with transparent tiles on it)

custom ringtones...yeap i read it right...use any ringtone u want, short or long customizeable..

folder access...even apps can be separated into folders...

notification drop down menu....with customizeable notifcation mode on each apps....

definately wp is catching up...but yess i do agree there is lacking apps especially who got too many free time playing mainstream fb games such candy crush etc etc....

Am currently using Lenovo Vibe Z Dual Sim after my 920. I still prefer WP8 OS as it looks like a premium OS. Android UI looks cheap.
I had battery problems with my 920 so I sent it in to fix but when I got it back, antenna was not working. After that, I sent it in again and the GPS wasn't working. Made a complaint to Nokia, no action taken except asking me to return it to the service center for checking. Nokia didn't want to send someone over to collect my phone or couldn't give me a phone that I could borrow while the phone is being repaired. Nokia makes good phones but the service center is a totally different thing sad.gif Now, I can't bear to buy a phone that costs RM2000 when the China phones are going for less than RM1000

If I'm not mistaken, Microsoft did launch Office for Android recently... but I don't know how good is the functionality...

I do remember WP has M2U and Hong Leong bank apps... I used to use M2U and it is just as good as Android's counterpart if not better (I tend to say better from my last experience), but I don't know how good is HLB apps... just mentioning the options we have now, I do agree WP is really bad on the apps selection...

I think for IOS and Android the Office app is only for you to view. To edit you need an Office365 subscription. For all WP phones that come with Office, you can edit or create new documents

Switch from s.note to 720 and nvr look back. Getting the 930 next.
Can't denied wp problems with some apps, but personally it somehow fit all i ever wanted to be brand as smartphone.

Somehow felt more productive with wp. Love the auto synchronization of one drive to all my windows platforms. This is something I can no longer live without. Then ms office, one note, seamless appt reminder n such.

The camera is another big plus, bing vision/translate is awesome. The biggest diff is all these comes with the box, I don't want to waste so much time and asking around looking for the right apps to install. There are too many with Play Store and it is ridiculous. I am 35, I need a smartphone to ease my work not entertainment phone.

I actually spend much less time in office nowadays.

But hell yeah, for play and fun.......stay away from wp. Android has much more to offer.

I have all the usage experience of most of the OSes...

Android Since 2.1
Windows 7 to the current 8.1
IOS since the original iPhone..

BBOS..

ios = simple + direct + stable + boring;
Android = immoderate + boring + energy inefficient;
Windows phone 8 = simple + direct + smooth + stable + individualizing
(At this moment, I love Windows Phone.)
WebOS... disaster.................

BBOS.... not useful except the BB chat...

mine devices history (used)
WindowsPhone htc hd7, TitanII, Nokia L920
iPhone ... Ori8G, 16G, 3GS, 4..
Android ... Xperia X10, Arc, S, Z ultra
WebOS ... Pre+, Pre III
BBOS ... Bold

Others
Windows Phone 7-- Samsung Omnia 7
Android --Samsung Galaxy S Sharp Aqous Sh12C

Me too as a Ex Android user that jump ship to WindowsPhone Lumia720. Enjoying my phone so far. One thing like all of you had said is lack of apps.
One more thing that not many people are affected is able to streaming media from my PC. Android had that function long time ago but till this very day WP still couldn't do it. Or if anyone know can pin point me to the right direction?
Aside of this two its a perfect phone for me. Spending more less time wandering aimlessly in the store. Only apps I used nowadays are WhatsApp wechat facebook and lyn. Can focus more in a way ^^

If you want versatility and potential and good app selection: Android 4.4 …
If you want great UI, ease of use, nice aesthetic, and XBox: Windows Phone8…
If you want to spend extra money to look trendy in front of 8-year-olds and 70-year-olds at the sacrifice of usability and functionality, iOS7.
