CRUSADER
Akarat grants you mercy, for i will not.

QUOTE
Crusaders are unbending champions of faith and law. These living fortresses use impenetrable plate and towering shields to wade through scores of foes, leaving demonic bodies smoldering in their wake.

The thick of battle is unforgiving, but crusaders rush in without hesitation, relying on holy magic and heavy armor to guarantee victory. Well-trained crusaders are adept at deflecting attacks entirely, often shrugging off massive blows that would fell lesser combatants. If pressed, they can sacrifice speed and mobility for pure staying power.

Bone-crunching flails and wicked shields are perfect for melee, but crusaders are hardly limited to extinguishing evil at close range. When one of these divinely empowered warriors joins battle, blazing fire and blinding light follow, smiting entire packs of enemies who dare to resist judgment.

BACKGROUND
The crusade calls me...so I go.

QUOTE
The leaders of the harmonious Zakarum religion once strove to imprison Mephisto, Lord of Hatred, beneath Travincal temple, preventing him from ever twisting the hearts of humanity again.

They failed.

It was not the first time Zakarum had lapsed; 200 years prior, the cleric Akkhan noticed corruption at the heart of his faith, and sent his acolytes on a far-ranging quest to cleanse it. Akkhan’s “crusaders” were young recruits, chosen for honor and goodness, trained in weaponry and flesh-scouring magics, though their most important quality was unwavering devotion to duty.

Today, the crusaders’ focused quest for purity has broadened. Flimsy “containment” gives evil many opportunities to thrive, and wandering crusaders – often master and apprentice pairs – regularly strike down Sanctuary’s demons. Some fight out of righteousness; others in the hopes that their victories may make corrupt Zakarum whole again. When a crusader's master dies, their student takes up their weapons and their identity…and the crusade continues, even beyond death.

PS: i link mannercookie, because he seems to be at the forefront for crusader theorycrafting and he regular posts guides on his youtube explaining the Crusader builds and their viability. Although i agree with most of what he says, always reserve your own judgement and take what he says with a grain of salt like i do  smile.gif For example, although i used his shotgun build as reference, i modified it to use Indestructible instead of wrathful, which works better for me - Moogle

So although your rank may have dropped since then, it's probably okay to leave old rank as long as that was the highest you got first, as long as you got proof to show your rank at the time. we could alternatively update ranking as it changes, but i don't have the time to keep updating that sweat.gif

Top T6 builds for Crusader
user posted image

A lot of these are outdated, considering there is the new legendary gems that now require socketing both rings and amulet. Also the new phalanks and condemn builds. So although certain advice from previous builds are useful, i didn't want to confuse the readers by making it official guides for now. But if you can take grain with salt, you can check the spoiler for the archived builds to help give you some hints to make a workable build in 2.1

In summary, the top builds in patch 2.1 are

1. condemn
2. phalanks

Shotgun is still viable, but in terms of potential, the other 2 mention are much nicer imho.

I don't have time to post builds here, but i did make an initial condemn and phalanks build for 2.1 which you can view here

condemn 2.1

phalanks 2.1

Top 10 useful Crusader gear

QUOTE
Amulet:
- all the elemental amys e.g. mara's kaleidescope etc.....
- uber amulet

Rings:
- Stone of Jordan (best dmg ring for the crusader)
- Royal Grandeur (good if your low on full set, or if you want to use 1 piece not from the akkhan set but still get the bonuses)
- Unity (good for solo farming with a mercenary)
- Bulkhathos wedding bang (for firestarter builds)
- justice lantern (the only block chance ring)

Belt:
- witching hour (good dmg belt, the only one with a combination of CHD with IAS)
- harrington (high dmg potential if you click stuff, including corpses)
- string of ears (nice defensive belt. Not as nice as a dmg dealer belt though)
- vigilante belt (CDR)

Boots:
- phase boots (very good utility for positioning. Is awesome for many situations, but in most cases you'll require a RORG ring if you intend to use this without losing set bonus)
- ice climbers (not as useful now because champ of akkhan makes if immune to everything ... the only thing IC has going for it i guess is the reduced ice dmg modifier )
- fire walkers
- akkhan set

Gloves:
- akkhan set
- magi fists
- shrine gloves

pants:
- akkhan set
- pox faulds
- depth diggers

chest:
-akkhan set
- cindercoat

shoulder:
- akkhan set
- zakara

helm:
- akkhan set
- andariels visage
- mempo of twilight
- helm of rule (the only block chance helm)
- king leoric's crown (can boost effect of gem. especially useful for CDR)

bracer:
- reaper wraps
- lacuni

1hd Weapon:
- gryfalcon
- darklight

2hd Weapon:
- fate of the fell
- maximus
- blade of prophecy
- furnace

shield:
- hellskull
- lidless wall
- jaekebong
- fryderh's wrath
- unrelenting phalanks

PS: this is not complete, so if you have a suggestion which ought to be a top Crus item, pm me to add it.

Refer to this site for popular gear used by Crusaders. But take this with a grain of salt, as that is not a clear indicator if the item is the best or not. It just indicates what most Crusaders use, that is all

Beginner Crusader Gearing Guide - patch 2.0.5

user posted image

QUOTE
We've all been a bit consumed by the optimal end-game gear and builds, but there is always a good time for an alt, which might as well be a Crusader since it's the newest and least nerfed class so far.

Deadset Gaming's Beginner Crusader Gearing Guide is extremely helpful and shows not only the items you'll need to get your Crusader to Torment IV pretty quickly, but the build and detailed explanations about each skill as well.

The main components in the early gearing are the Aughild and Captain Crimson sets, since they are crafted, but make sure you watch the whole video for valuable advice and pleasant gameplay background.

QUOTE
*This section will cover builds and other details meant for newbie or beginner Crusaders to get started and work their way up. So if your already well geared and doing T5-T6 content, then this is probably not relevant for you - Moogle

Hm...... some people were saying shield bash is t6 rdy ? But looking at this video i am not convinced .....

SOmeone even went as far as to say something like....
QUOTE
too slow.. lmao I crit for 45-50mil, and keep upgrading

who cares if its slow

When i do 40-60m dmg per beam (remember i shoot 3 beams using fotf) at a rate of 0.5 seconds using the quick shotgun spam method. That totally leaves a shield bash build in the dust......

This is why although SB MAY be viable, it is by far too slow to compete with the other better builds out there for T6 content to even bother wasting time on building for....

You can sum up a T6 crusader as either a firestarter or a shotgun build. Until someone can post a convincing third alternative that can keep up with the dmg output and t6 clearance speed of these 2 builds mentioned doh.gif
