I don't know how to answer you this. Cause neither hotel or Airbnb apartment can promise 100% clean right? But by looking at the reviews by those who've tried Airbnb, mostly are positive, as the host will take care of their property.

i'll be going to BKK in mid Jan and will be there for 6 nights. Any advise where to stay that is convenient ? shopping, massage and food

we will be going with a toddler 18 mths old and the last time i was in bkk was like 10 years ago so any help will be appreciated since this is the 1st time we are travelling with a toddler.

we plan to carry her and not bring the stroller as i dont recall bkk is a stroller friendly for places like chatuchak, suen lam night market (not sure still around or not)

It would be helpful to state the budget, type of accomodation, main area of activities, etc in order for people to suggest otherwise it would be too difficult as BKK is huge and thousands of hotels.

Best suggestion I always have to people is, do a prelimenary search on agoda or booking.com first because you can literally filter a lot of things from there, short list a list of hotels and ask people here which of those hotels is recommended.

You'd be suprised at how BKK is stroller friendly but mostly those hi-end malls but of course if pasar malam kind its not advisable.

budget : RM100 - RM200 per night
the last time i was in bangkok was 10 years ago so i'm not sure what changed since then (alot i pressume)

Main activities :
Tour - Floating market & main temple
Shopping - malls to market + chatuchak
Food - yes we are there for the food too.

i have went to agoda, booking.com, asiarooms, accorhotel and its very confusing where is the "main" area or where should i concentrate on for stay thats why i ask for suggestion smile.gif maybe some who went there with their baby will be able to advise what or where to avoid.

Last time I was in Bangkok, I stayed in Silom area, near chong nonsi station. Quite centrally located, and the food is really nice. Just minutes by BTS to Saphan Taksin (where you can take the ferry to major tourist areas in Bangkok) and Siam (Siam Paragon and MBK area)

Got a few floating markets you can consider, one of the main ones is damnoen saduak, which is very touristy, but is 2 hours drive from bangkok. Temples wise you can go to wat arun and wat pho. Chatuchak market was the first thing I did when I landed. Only 20-30 minutes bus ride from don mueang airport, the market is just next to mo chit bts.

If you crave delicious food, Yaowaraj is worth a visit. drool.gif

If you stay at the Sukhumvit BTS line, you will be able to reach all of the places that you like to go.

Let me briefly give you some ideas of the main areas and then you can refine your search again.

Platinum mall -> Pratunam area
Siam Paragon and nearby malls -> Siam area
Chatuchak -> Sanam Pao area (2 stations away)
Terminal21 -> Asoke area

You should stay at Asoke area as the station can interchange to MRT or BTS but the hotels around this area is usually above your budget but for convenience sake, what's another RM50 per night for a vacation? Try S15 Sukhumvit hotel.

THANK YOU ! THANK YOU !
you are a life saver notworthy.gif

i'm going to refine my search base on the recommended list at least gives me an idea of price too. We are ok with paying abit more for stay more so esp its for convenient sake since we are bringing a baby - going back to hotel as and when for her nap is important.

I'm thinking to split my stay

Arriving on Saturday, so Saturday to Monday will stay near chatuchak area.
Monday to Friday will stay in Pratunam / Siam / Terminal21 area.

Honestly, you can stay for entire week at Terminal21 Area. All these areas are not really very far apart from each other. Like I said as long you stay at Sukhumvit line, everywhere is easily assessible.

Let's just say you stay at Terminal21 (Asoke) area. The stations are:

Asoke (Terminal 21) -> Nana (Nightlife) -> Ploen Chit -> Chit Lom (can walk to Platinum/Centralworld/Erawan shrine from here or a short cab) -> Siam (all famous malls) ->Ratchathewi ->Victory Monument (big pasar malam) ->Sanam Pao (There's a hotel Vic3, its 2 mins walk from this BTS and within your budget) -> Ari (Modern chic mall) -> Saphan Khwai -> Mo Chit (Chatuchak market)

Entire journey would only have taken you bout 25 minutes.

I stayed in Pratunam, and Asoke a few times, much prefer Asoke, less chaotic than the Pratunam/Siam area. I stay in a hotel 3 minutes away from Terminal 21, good food court if i need quick munch, and Siam area is a few minutes away by BTS.

I don't shop a lot in the Pratunam/Platinum mall area so..

No need to think so much la, later ruin your enjoyment. sweat.gif
If you see the taxi driver a bit shady, then don't take his taxi but this kind of thing hard to avoid
If want to avoid completely, avoid taxi. Public transport better thumbup.gif

When I went there last time, traffic from don mueang to mo chit was rather smooth, traffic from the station to bangkok metro onwards was congested. Took the A1 bus.

2 hours should be ok kua, didn't have to wait long for the bus to leave, but maybe it's just my luck unsure.gif

The bus operates until midnight, and runs hourly I believe. The traffic from don mueang to mo chit isn't that bad. Still can make it under an hour. From mo chit onwards only bad.

Anyways, why not take direct flight to chiang mai? unsure.gif

DMK to mochit in an hour definitely can under normal traffic conditions but even with jam, 2 hours definitely doable so i guess u are safe unless that day rain heavily or with accident which u cant really avoid nor predict.

for another 50-70 usd you could have flew from DMK -> CMX haha and save the 10 hours journey

the air is getting cooler by the day in bkk but its nowhere near last year ...sigh...
