i will say this
yes, its quite dangerous
BUT hardcore thailand fans will say its still safe, still safer than many countries
thailand is no different than us, easily butthurt
2 months ago, a website named thailand one of the most dangerous country to travel to, bloggers and hardcore fans butthurt complain to the website kaw2
at last thailand got removed from the list
thn 2-3 weeks later, the bombings happen
which question is it true bangkok is really 1 of the most dangerous country to visit or not hmm.gif laugh.gif

but i can tell u one thing though, thailand really boast their tourism...they take it very seriously
if got tourist being robbed, their tourist police take the case pretty seriously, unlike brows.gif

Hi guys, need some advice cuz I have no experience backpacking traveling....

Planning to go backpacking for a week at Bangkok next year with a friend of mine. Just wanna know what kind of budget am I looking at, what stuff (clothes, shoes etc) are necessary to pack and whether possible to backpacking with just carry on of under 7 kg (air Asia)?

Our planned budget is RM 1000 (excluding flight) each, but not sure if it's enough? We'll be very frugal but it'll be better knowing we overbudget instead of not enough money ><

Thanks!

as a solo backpacker, i always slightly over plan my budget. i'll be going to bkk end of this year for a week too, and i'll exchange RM1.5k (excluding flight). but my exact plan is to spend within RM1k.

just pack light. for me i always roll my shirts and put them into zipper bags. save space in my backpack.

I live here for 2-3 weeks every month. I would say depends on venue and yourself.

Streetfood stall , NO NEVER

Restaurant where you are serve like a king, have someone pour your drinks for you, switch out your waste plate ( they give u a small plate where you dump your prawn/crab shells/ fish bone) when you are having seafood with shells, YES.

Taxi or driver, YES. It is not fun driving in Bangkok or Thailand in general.

Parking attendant, YES but only on land where the restaurant own the parking lot, you dont pay the parking fee but you pay the attendant instead, they do really take care of your car. If they dont own that land a receipt will be issued.

Premises that involve alcoholic drinks or premises with pretty women/dude services, YES

Massage, YES

Apart from alcoholic and pretty women/dude places, this people earn little wage and living cost in Thailand is getting damn high, especially in the capital.

The amount depends, typically 20 to 50. 100 baht is too much unless the particular person go all out to serve you, or party venue.

Before leaving, a word of chok dee is also nice.

Not paying tips is ok.

I would say one thing for tips, it is not necessary and depends on yourself entirely. If you're feeling generous and think the service deserves more, you are more than welcome to tip.

Got it, thanks for the detailed info. Appreciate it notworthy.gif

Yup true that.
With such tight budget just try to avoid the famous night spots (if you know what I mean). thumbsup.gif
