QUOTE(lulz @ Jul 5 2014, 09:38 PM) Nice, should put the 30mm and 20mm gun pod on all the hardpoint, minus the wingtip one of course, i dont think it can support the weight. Prefer the armed PC-7 to doing gun run, beside lower cost and more suited to COIN opsOurs with shark face nose art and tropics camo ![]() |

![]() QUOTE KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will deploy another Royal Malaysian Navy vessel, the KD Mutiara, on Aug 4, to join the search efforts of the missing MH370 flight, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein. Hishammuddin who was the acting Transport Minister during the incident said the KD Mutiara which has the capabilities of the multi beam echo sounder will join the search efforts to assist in bathymetric survey process. He added apart from KD Mutiara, Petronas together with DEFTECH and Phoenix International will deploy a Prosas Side Scan Sonar (Towed Synthetic Aperture Sonar) which will be mounted on a mother vessel. Meanwhile Boustead Heavy Industries together with iXBlue Australia will be deploying a deep towed side scan sonar with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) mounted on the John Lethbridge vessel. "The Prosas Side Scan Sonar and the deep towed side scan sonar with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) is expected to join the search efforts by mid Aug. "The Bunga Mas 6 vessel which was deployed on Apr 20, will remain in the search area to assist in the search ," he said in a press conference after launching the MH370 Photo Exhibition organised by the Foreign Correspondents Club of Malaysia (FCC) at the Publika Mall here today. Vietnam raises helicopter crash death toll to 18
![]() QUOTE HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — A Vietnamese official on Tuesday raised the death toll to 18 from a military helicopter crash that happened close to the capital on a parachute training mission, adding three others were being treated for serious injuries. The Russian-made MI-171 helicopter came down Monday morning about 15 minutes after takeoff in a small village about 24 miles (40 kilometers) west of Hanoi. Officials said after the crash that 16 people were killed and five were seriously injured, but an official at the National Burns Hospital said Tuesday that two of the survivors had died and that the three remaining survivors were in critical condition. The official did not give his name because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media. Reports in the state-controlled media said 16 of those on board were parachute recruits from the air force's helicopter regiment. There were also two trainers and three crew members on board. The MI-171 helicopter is primarily a transport aircraft, but there is also a gunship version. Vietnam buys most of its military hardware from Russia, the country's cold war ally. Some of it dates back more than 20 years. ![]() [Yahoo News] |

QUOTE(yinchet @ Jul 11 2014, 12:44 AM) Well the proposal of having 50:50 ratio between peninsular wont be cheap for operation cost. Setting up a 5th divs in sabah is ady a huge endeavour, and also the planned marine corpsprobably it will eat up few hundred million of dollars. More base or bigger base will be require to build in borneo the military probably will ask to increase the military personnel to 150k as well. though it pretty welcome to have such ratio. so now come the question will the government and opposition agree on more budget for the military to support such ratio distribution? Between pakatan suggestions wont be enough to improve the security conditions at sabah. True, no money no talk, increase security without appropriate funds is illogical, they think soldiers can survive on blood and sweat alone? They can suggest forever, but no such mp in pakatan would support for the idea of expanding the defence budget, I say again NO ONE |

Philippines says friendly fire killed 6 soldiers
![]() QUOTE MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A Philippine military investigation concluded Thursday that friendly fire and not Muslim extremists as reported earlier killed six elite army soldiers during a clash in the restive southern region last month. Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Emmanuel Bautista was saddened by the finding and will decide whether charges should be filed against the marines responsible for firing the artillery round that killed six soldiers and wounded 13 others. The firing occurred during a June 19 clash with the Abu Sayyaf militants in Sulu province's hinterlands, military spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said. The Philippines has struggled to modernize its military, one of Asia's most ill-equipped. U.S. counterterrorism forces have been providing advice, combat training and intelligence, including drone surveillance, to Filipino troops battling the Abu Sayyaf and other al-Qaida-linked militants in the south since 2002. The June 19 fighting is believed to have killed about 10 militants near mountainous Patikul town, according to Zagala. He said that although the soldiers died from friendly fire, "they're still a part of the operations against terrorists and we consider them as heroes." In the clash, the marines fired 105 mm howitzer rounds to back up troops battling the Abu Sayyaf but one struck an army detachment instead, he said. The mistake may have been committed because of combat stress, Zagala said. [Yahoo News] Blue on blue, shiets happens |

QUOTE(wesleyktr @ Jul 11 2014, 10:24 PM) ok sifu sifu sekalian,i got a real serious question to ask here ( i dont know shit about military ) Decent, but like all other armies in south east asia it is still under-funded and under-equipped, pretty much a defence armyis malaysia's army really that bad like some people say? or is it pretty decent ? Only singapore is fully-funded and fully-equipped for any action in this case, only to make up for their lack of strategic defence depth |

QUOTE(menj @ Jul 14 2014, 06:28 AM) Never heard of Rapier missiles....hmmm. So let's say if the Sulu terrorists gain the capability to launch missiles into Sabah, what are we going to do about it? That's pretty far fetched idea.. the biggest thing they had is rpg and maybe some mortar confiscated from the dead pinoy army, and pinoy army dun even operate any form of rocket or mlrs system to begin with tooThe proliferation of palestinian rockets like qassam, m75, grads is because they had a huge backer from neighbouring countries Sulu or any other terrorist group in pinoy operates on their own, more so since their financial backer gaddafi died |

QUOTE(aztechx @ Jul 15 2014, 10:29 AM) I am getting increasingly sick and fighting the urge not to reply to idiots who keep harping on our assets being for merdeka display only and not sent to gaza. I realize my iq will reduce if i reply to them but gosh is it painful to read and see it being shared virally. Just move along and pretend they don't exist, worrying about them is harmful to your brain cellsLuckily my fb friends so far is well informed and don't post/like/share things like this.. yet.. |

QUOTE(heavyduty @ Jul 16 2014, 07:09 PM) they could have fitted turrets on I dunno if local manufacturing that time have the ability to do that.. but at least the MIFV have local production enginePT-91Ms and MKMs have elements from different countries.they could have gone with the sharpshooter,CM30 or Dragar turrets if they really wanted to I also think it's best to replace the open-top turret to closed type, at least more secure for the gunner QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ Jul 16 2014, 07:13 PM) Just that MIFV only got open-top mg turret version, Adnan meanwhile got many version instead (Sharpshooter, MG, Mortar, Ambulance, Kembalik, Baktar ATGM)This post has been edited by KYPMbangi: Jul 16 2014, 07:21 PM |
