SEREMBAN 11 Jun - Seramai 791 anggota termasuk pegawai Tentera Darat Malaysia dan Australia mengadakan latihan bersama selama seminggu bermula hari ini dalam usaha meningkatkan keserasian doktrin ketenteraan menerusi Eksesais Haringgaroo di Kem 15 Rejimen Askar Melayu Diraja (RAMD) Senawang.

Panglima 3 Divisyen, Mejar Je-neral Datuk Sheikh Mokhsin Sheikh Hassan berkata, eksesais yang masuk edisi ke-65 itu selari dengan hasrat Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) ke arah meningkatkan profesionalisme dalam ilmu ketenteraan dari semasa ke semasa.

"Latihan ini sudah menjadi tanggungjawab kita untuk mempersiapkan diri dengan ilmu pepe-rangan sekali gus berupaya meningkatkan kemahiran diri, pengetahuan taktikal dan ketahanan fizikal termasuk aspek penggunaan peralatan serta sistem persenjataan moden dan canggih.

"Namun apa yang penting, latihan bersama ini merupakan platform terbaik untuk memahami serta mendalami doktrin peperangan yang kian mencabar dan rumit," katanya selepas merasmikan Majlis Pembukaan Eksesais Haringgaroo di Kem 15 RAMD Senawang di sini.

Yang turut hadir, Panglima 1 Briged, Brigedier Jeneral Datuk Adnan Abu Bakar dan Pegawai Meme-rintah Kumpulan Tentera Australia, Leftenan Kolonel, Thomas Tilbrook.

Indonesian presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto is accused to have help arrange 'disappearances' of political dissenters,mostly students. Prabowo,who is formerly a commander with Indonesian Special Forces, KOPASSUS, and son-in-law to the late dictator Suharto has been accused of complicit involvement on the kidnapping and disappearance of up to 13 people in the last years of the Orde Baru period under Suharto.

Prabowo has denied these charges,claiming he is being made a scapegoat and someone is out to sabotage his candidacy.

The armour on five of Iraq's M1A1 Abrams tanks was penetrated by anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) and six helicopters were shot down between 1 January and the end of May, The New York Times quoted an unnamed US official as saying on 13 June.

The official said 28 Iraqi Army Abrams had been damaged in fighting with militants, five of them suffering full armour penetration when hit by ATGMs. The United States supplied 140 refurbished M1A1 Abrams tanks to Iraq between 2010 and 2012. While they have new equipment to improve situational awareness, they do not have the depleted uranium armour package that increases protection over the tank's frontal arc.

The penetration of a tank's armour by a shaped-charge warhead increases the likelihood of crew casualties, but does not necessarily result in the destruction of the vehicle, especially if it has a dedicated ammunition compartment, as in the case of the Abrams.

Five dead in military shooting rampage

Five soldiers were killed and five others wounded after a South Korean soldier went on a shooting spree at a general outpost
in the country's border town with North Korea on Saturday, military officers said.

According to the military, an unidentified South Korean sergeant serving his duty with an Army unit in this eastern town of Goseong,
Gangwon Province, went on a shooting rampage at about 8:15 p.m., which led to the casualties.

The suspect was on the loose with a gun and ammunition, prompting the military to launch an operation to catch him, the military said.

The unit is near the border town with North Korea, but the incident has nothing to do with the communist country,
according to Army officers.

Those who suffered wounds were taken to a nearby hospital, though their conditions were not immediately known.

The motive for the shootings is unknown, according to the officers.
The Ministry of National Defense also has yet to elaborate on what happened at the border post.

In 2005, a South Korean Army private set off a hand grenade and went on a shooting rampage near the border with North Korea,
