I prefer they go for.
denel turret, rws and ingwe first.
2nd batch developed scout variant, c2, anti-air and perhaps buy additional denel turret and rws variants.
3 batch mayb mortar and so on.

it time consuming to develop 12 variants and expensive.
which is also the reason y deftech yet to begin initial production phased.
they spend quite lots of times contract negotiations as well.
iinm they should have already finalised all the contract for all variants and most of them under development status.

if they going for lesser variant let say start with development of 3 variants. Deftech should have already long begun their initial production might even begin deliver the av8.
It also lots cheaper since contract on development of 3 variants which means we can buy more units.

That is the thing. Government is willing to pay handsome amount for licensed ship though with small volume but not to these smaller crafts which we already have the capability to build and will directly help these small boatbuilders to expand.

Probably try to come up with new specification for small attack crafts with large volume purchase and allow several boat builders to propose and build the designs. That should be a good driver for these boatbuilders. Having the spec being made by Malaysian Navy, the same spec may be marketed for overseas market as well..

Actually during Mahathir times there were lots of thing left on wish list as well.

Anyway currently it is not like military is getting nothing ec725, a400m, gowind, av8 quite okay imo.

COSH conference in KLCC. One of the topic was on GST and the speaker started off by mentioning our financial status.
CMIIW this year defence budget RM16 billion and about 15% of it were meant for procurement of new hardware. Have been reading up a bit on what which is lacking in our armed forces and seriously we are not well cover by what we currently own. I do see a bigger defence budget for 2015 and since it's not an election year, more will go to the procurement side. What do you think?
