QUOTE(junchuan @ Aug 31 2014, 07:10 AM) Juz wonder why we dw buy sachsen frigate from germany for the same price as 6 lame gowind we can buy 4 badass sachsen with badass air defence and destroy any country in sea If Gowind not locally built, means all built int France, we can get 20% cheaper or 5 unit FREMM Frigate, and we can get ship at 2016. that 20% saving can buy a squadron 8-10 unit Tiger Heli or EC725.... If AV8 project we only limited to 3~4 variant, we can save 50%+, than we can buy 8~10 unit F/A-18 or MPA ..... some time i think this way, i will get angry. QUOTE(junchuan @ Sep 1 2014, 06:59 AM) not going to buy ec725 soon, mindef already provide budget for upgrade nuri again (upgrade avionic, digital glass), maybe next purchase on 2018~2020. But hope mindef can change mind set, like buying small quantity ex: 2~4 unit every 2 year. just like TNI they many time buy Jet/Heli/ship in small quantity. than 2~3 year later buy again. Our mindef like buy in big quantity (for 10~20 year once) but one time investment is huge, so some time need cut some spec or quantity. This post has been edited by waja2000: Sep 1 2014, 10:06 AM |

QUOTE(junchuan @ Sep 1 2014, 04:31 PM) Just realised US currently has 3 tarawa class amphib assault ships with capability for helis, tanks,apcs,1000+ troops and 6 harriers and they're planning to get rid of it by scrapping.. Why dont we propose to US to buy 1/2 for amphib capability since we setting up marine base at bintulu can probably get it cheap and get better relationship with US and fulfil our mpss requirement with an even better ship. Gud idea?? tarawa class 44,000 tons oooo, RMN no budget to rmn this ship, and too big, also ship already 40 year old, no point getting it, if want 2nd us ship, better consider Whidbey Island class dock landing ship, only 16'000 tons more suitable for RMN, 2 of ship going to decommission us navy on 2013~2018. it just 30 year old, no problem for run other 10~15 year of some refurbishment .anyway still hope getting new ship more worth it. QUOTE(yinchet @ Sep 1 2014, 09:07 PM) It is most likely due to the way we structure our budget on a 5 years basis. just wish and wait see 10/10, how much getas currently large protion of the annual budget being use to paid existing and ongoing procurement. Unless the government willing to push the procurement budget higher in the overall annual budget. |

QUOTE(Piap @ Sep 1 2014, 10:41 PM) Walao, so expensive for one ah-6. North korea bought around 60 civilian md500 and converto military spec. md500 limited capability, anyway AH-6i 10 mil is consider value price for that size and capability. u should know AH-1z price us 30 mil+, Tiger usd 4x mil each, Apache cost 60 million+ each. |

QUOTE(junchuan @ Sep 1 2014, 11:01 PM) Still think we should get ah1z, more suitable size for bigger area to cover plus more effective against 1000 speedboat sulu navy I more prefer Tiger, more longer patrol range , 800km with weapon, and we already send pilot to training on Tiger heli (less cost and speed up operation). plus our relation with Airbus-Helicopter (eurocopter) .Ah-1Z short range with weapon. 250km+- only. also not sure on any us restricted on Ah-1z if face asean country Apache This post has been edited by waja2000: Sep 1 2014, 11:18 PM |

QUOTE(LTZ @ Sep 1 2014, 11:36 PM) for Navy (Gowind ship) should be using more suitable using NH90 or AW159, it used Thales Frash Dipping sonar system, more suitable/easy link to Gowind Combat system (Asw system, integrated together Thales Captas TAS sonar), easy data link and share info. unless Heli select in Gowind just CSAR version than ok using seahawk, seahawk so far only optional using us variant of Dipping sonar. This post has been edited by waja2000: Sep 1 2014, 11:56 PM |

QUOTE(LTZ @ Sep 1 2014, 11:57 PM) Imho....I like Nh90 but its too expensive, advantage is its bigger with more endurance & bigger low freq dipper. Expensive but worth, Nh90 with Dipping sonar still have space for CSAR capability, Seahawk if include dipping sonar than cabin no more space can't used other function, also Dipping sonar need work stand-alon system. pay some integration cost for using thales flash dipping system in seahawk?2nd is wildcat.... MH-60R seahawk.... just full space with dipping sonar equipment, also without MAD detector, so can't do other mission, dont think suitable for Gowind, for US is no issue bcos there Destroyer DDG is include 2 heli, one for ASW other one for CSAR/transportation/Cargo.
