How much with camera. Can diy or not?

Dah berabuk my F450 clone lepas charger rosak lol. Rasa nak main rempit pulak.

Once I can get a decent set of drones plus good camera with live feed for less than 2.5k, I'll probably jump into that and leave PC gaming behind.

But that depends on how AMD's Vega will perform, and how badly will local retailers try to scalp us up on those cards. So it's still a long wait.

I actually didn't get the camera for FPV. It's mainly for recording video when flying the quad. I only want to test it for FPV via wifi because the video did not lag at short distance. I'm interested to see the performance at higher altitude & longer distance.

I'm kinda disappointed with the 6-axis gyro on the syma. My quad still drifting when I just want to go up & hover. I did reset horizontal correction per instruction in the manual. I should add, this is in the windless room. If outdoor I can blame the wind.

Watch Casey Neistat youtube videos. He use Phantom 4 exclusively for aerial videography. He also have crashed four Phantom 4 in just few months I think.

Do you have experience in flying rc helicopter and/or quad before? If you have not, you should get Syma quadcopter for practicing.

BTW, what do you guys think? I know the camera is upside down but I think this is the best I can come up with & I can rotate the video when editing it. The camera also came with a bracket similar to the bracket use on this custom X8W quad but it will higher than the quad legs unfortunately.


Edit: Test flight @9.45 to 10.00 p.m. was successful but the quad feels heavy though while flying.


neato4u@, what do you think about Tarot ZYX-M Flight Controller to replace the Syma flight controller? I'm only interested with GPS module but it seems like I need to change everything. The Tarot ZYX-M all-in-one flight controller seems suitable.

Arduino huh, that's a little to hardcore for me. I'm a simple guy with not much time to spend on this hobby. So I take a lot of (expensive) shortcuts here and there anyway, family time come first. Why do you choose arduino? I would recommend you get KK2 flight controller or maybe naze32 first and get your first quadcopter up in the air (usually in no time). Then once you have a feel for it, go for more complex or custom setup.

Anyone know or can recommend the cheapest quadcopter/drones that is capable of FPV that you can get in Malaysia?

Better list what you're looking for in quad/multi-rotor rc. Like whether this is for racing or just for flying, what is your budget, etc. Cheapest depends on what you need can be as low as RM400 - 600 to RM2k - 3k & the difference between them will be in range, capability, functionality, etc.

Replacing a Symc flight controller? I'm really not sure bro. Syma is toy grade?
You need to ask more serious DIYers for this. For me, if you are really into these quad things, get yourself a good hobby grade set.
It's worth it bro and there is a lot of people and community out there who will help you along the way.
Why don't you go into fb and join Dunia RC group. It's one of the most active groups at the moment.

Good videos, go for Phantom 3 standard - I'd say no less then that or you will be dissapointed.
Racing, ah.. a lot to choose. But a cheap quad around RM500-800 may be enough to get you into FPV.
Then wait until you have a taste of the expensive stuffs.. hahaha

I already know that I can replace the flight controller to different maker. I was wondering whether you're familiar with that controller. It is complete set kit & affordable which is the reason I'm interested with it.

I want GPS module which is the reason why I'm looking at 3rd party flight controller but at the moment I'm more interested in upgrading the motor because it's struggling with sport cam attached to it. I already looking into brushless motor mod. This is the most important mod at the moment to get a working "on the budget" aerial photography/videography quadcopter.

I found brushless kit for quadcopter, including ESC & props. I don't need to buy one by one. Now I just need to find brush to brushless signal converter module thingy.

Hello hello...my budget below 2k....i very very noob...play only once and i love it...i want racing drone and can fly high, take pictures and record video? ...any suggestion? Diy? Do you know where i can get all the diy things...any shop around klang valley?

I'm newbie in rc quad (& anything that flying) but not new in rc.

If RTF...
Check this out (Eachine Racer 250). From 700 to 900 you can get one for almost ready to fly or ready to fly. This is mini quad I think. Just need to get 5.8GHz monitor.

If DIY...
- frame > around 200 to 600
- flight controller \w GPS > around 500 to 700
- motors + ESCs + props kit > around 600
- FPV kit (without camera & monitor/goggle) > around 300 to 400
- camera (e.g. SJ4000,5000,9000 or clone) > around 200 to 400
(you also will need micro usb fpv cable to connect the camera to fpv transmitter)
- monitor/goggle

I think you can fit everything in 2k budget.

I found this online store (https://averagedrone.my) which have good selection of what I want. This is not an endorsement. I have no experience buying stuff there yet. I'm pretty sure there's many rc hobby store around klang valley.

Mostly I want to take arial photograph of my surroundings. I have watch review of Phantom 3 standard and it's good enough but I think I have watched some where in youtube of a drone that's comparable to what Phantom 3 could do at a slightly cheaper price around USD300-USD350 compared to Phantom 3 price of USD499.

Are you referring to the Mi Drone?

It's ok bro. To be honest I'm not a good DIYer. Reason being I don't have much time to spend building in this hobby (or maybe I just suck! haha)
But if you are replacing the flight controller (with GPS), then the motors (which I believe you will eventually replace the props and ESCs as well) - then would that be near to a complete built already minus the actual quadcopter frame?

If you going for GPS built, go get an arducopter as featured on this video. I can hook u up with kodox as well if you need to meet and chit chat perhaps?

Radio transmitter (controller) cheap ones u can get Flysky i6. I am using it right now. Got PWM and PPM support and telemetry (but lowsy one.. skip the telemetry part lor). I even have a friend who want to sell it off (used). PM me if you are interested.
