huawei is already a international reputable company, local ppl more confident to this kind large company than xiaomi though.

seeing their operation style, huawei bring stock here first then sell, ship out next day, fast and efficient. and having local retail channel.

xiaomi don even have a base to keep phone stock (not even plan to?), all send by international courier only and take around 1 week time, let alone strengthen their international product image through local retail kiosk / IT fair.

that makes grey importer can compete at this weak point.

another matter is 'xiaomi' is a too china name, when they wanna appear in overseas market, only find out this name seems under ppl perception not at par with other maker name.

Xiao mi is follow apple style, order online then send from china warehouse, easy control and their courier ups / fedex is just like working for them. They dont need other warehouse in other country coz they store all stocks at china, in future not sure lar. Like this strategy, their shipping cost would be higher compared to bulk shipping, but they save cost for warehouse too.

Hmmm, you would prefer them to have an English name? Like LG, Sony? Normally brands reflect country of origin, like Huawei, Apple, Samsung, etc.

takes time to change their mentality. for most, 'made in china' means low quality. not the case anymore

Not quite true 'made in chine' means low quality. Look at Apple products. Nearly all made in china... but the quality is paramount.

can't compare it that way.. QC by individual company.. Apple factory in China, QC still controlled by Applr California.. quality really depends on the company itself.. we are still seeing crap China products around.. and yes, recently there are a lot good product from China as well.. wise consumer will self learning about what what which which

Can't comment on the 1S, but, the Honor 3C shown in that link is a different version from the Malaysian set.
