actually at this price point hardware wise is really cant complaint much but i do hope that xiaomi would release update soon to rectify/improve software glitches. after two days of usage the MIUI seems like a beta release especially the "lite mode" and ram management/multitasking.

Actually is the MIUI in general, cos Mi3 also having the same problem althought not severe cos it has 2G RAM...
After i delete all unused google apps Mi3 startup with 800MB Free RAM only... which is about 300MB lesser than others which uses lighter ROM...
Then there are some small glitches on the spelling correction, the system will force close the apps b4 restart it when you r trying to use the auto correct suggestion...

Yes same system but different hardware...
Mi3 also have have problem just that it is not that severe...
I think that's why a lot of ppl using Developer ROM cos lighter...

A bit dissapounted with the battery lifetime.

Always on 3G data. Battery decrease like butter. Sot 2+hrs only and battery life only 8-12hrs before need to charge

Luckily, the original replacement battery is cheap. Extra RM25 only to make your 1s a "4000mAh" phone like Lenovo P780 minus the weight and size. Compare it to Samsung's phone ori battery RM100+, even you add on the Redmi external battery charge @RM25, it is still so much cheaper.

Really if on 3G really drop but Dino y others can get about 4 hrs sot?

All depends on usage la. If every time on data and your reception is not stable, then only 2+hr, or if you are an avid gamer then max also 2hr+. If normal user who doesn't spend too much time on gaming and switch between wifi and data, 3-4hrs is possible.

Browsing for 15+minutes. Battery from 95 down to 80.

Samsung grand quattro and grand 2 can last much longer than this (off course quattro slower cpu speed n lower resolution, grand 2 slower cpu and larger screen and abit larger battery cap)

But this is too obvious.

1% only can last around max 2-3minutes for straight browsing, whatsapp. With screen auto brightness

The good point is wifi eeception is very good compare to my note 2.

eg: At the same spot, n2 can get 2bar max, but 1s can get 4bar without signal lost..tested in many places d..

Btw attached beliw is my power consumption related ss. Now my batt 71%.

Overall my conclusion after 2days of usage as main phone

PRO:
UI smooth and iphonish style.
Usefull and powerfull backup app, Call recorder
good Cpu+gpu
Confort in hand
Nice screen colour and brightness n contrast
Good camera and video output
Many good theme BUT many of it with china words
Wifi reception good


CON:
Battery life bad when use 3G data
Heat issue
Default browser always open new tab when run
Eat 7% battery when i sleep (data on) 12-6am. My frens grand quattro only eat 3%
No capacitive button led. Trouble at night need to touch several times to really hit it
Notification led at the bottom.
Battery very slow to recharge even with 2A charger

Really annoy with default browser that always open new tab instead of display previous tab open before close.

Any setting to counter that?

I dont like chrome, ff, opera, uc

I haven dump everything in also... so I think for a normal user OK lo... but for heavy usage still Mi3 is better...

On stock also u can install that game la.. played 1st round only but not lag, not bad already o...

It only increases your virtual memory not storage space, so u can only use it to supplement the 1gb which often runs out.

Chrome is not good as dolphin.
I recomend dolphin.

Oh I see. So it increases the RAM?? Is there any memory partition on this phone? Like on oppo find 7, it only have 3gb for apps. If it does have, will the app repartation it for you or do you need to do it with a pc?

the app will allocate a .swp file based on the memory size apportioned, in my case, 2GB file.

Total Ram = 1GB + 2GB = 3GB. More than enough for all your apps to be opened without closing any.
