guys, plan to get kancil for everyday drive.. can sifu sekalian tunjuk camne nk spot a healthy kancil?? what to lookup for when selecting one?? >150k km need overhaul or how long need overhaul??

looks like not enough fuel check spark plug, fuel/air ratio, fuel filter, fuel pump.
change spark plug first as its the cheapest. most problem can be solved by changing spark plug

fuse blown again? need to check wiring for short circuit I guess...

all kancils now at least 8 years or older.
Milelage is an indicator but not accurate as meter can be changed, cable broken or numbers turn back.
most notable for older cars are oil leaks, high fuel consumption, rough engine. test drive and you will know.
drive for 10km and if the fuel meter goes down fast then something is wrong with the car. rough engine sound during drive also means wear and tear.
Make sure gear change is smooth and not jerking - sign of wear gearbox.

I advice to buy from friends or private sellers as second hand dealers sell way more expensive.

Spark plug was the 1st thing I change but still the same. Engine can start but the rpm is not stable. Keep on up down up down.
So now the car is at a workshop for further checking.

just bought a kancil 850 manual year 2003 for one weeks mileage about 75k, just notice the engine belt is giving alot of noise & brake pad is almost finish & meter digital indicator is start to blur. any member here can recommended your regular workshop in puchong area with reasonable price?

wiring...wiring...wiring.
lets face it. our kancil are old. the insulation or the wire itself is also old.
hence nowadays my kancil also have wiring problem but I slowly fix myself or learn to accept it

most probably wiper motor is shorted out.

As you said wiring could be an issue, I did change all the wiring in my car, it just makes a loud clicking noise everytime i horn, could it be oso due to an issue with the speakers and the crossover amp?

btw I say check wiring , not change all the wiring....
anyway change all the wiring is good, now u have less worries....

Couldn't believe I browse the thread from V2 till V4. It took me 3 days to finish it. Salute to admin & all members here. Thank you for the tips, guide, awesome photos & videos posted here. Hats off!

Just intro about myself & my kancil. 850 EX (Manual). She's 11 years old. Mata bulat, silver in color. bought new in 2004 and still with me till now. She is a standard ride except sport suspension & done some chambering (dunno what exactly the word is) at front wheels coz i love to layan corner.

Changed the gearbox in 2013 since I cannot shift into gear 5 (dia tendang balik). However after change the unit the sound of the engine roaring kaw kaw when RPM >3k but tak laju pun. I suspect he supply me with 660 GB and within 2 years I am facing problem with the box. Gear 1, 3 & 5 tak boleh masuk. Technically I am living with Gear 2 & 4. Sigh~

To make is more interesting aircond compressor, drive shaft, wheel bearing also starts giving way. FYI, after change the new GB, my drive shaft rubber cover (at the outer connection) prone to tear. 3 times in 2 years to be exact.

For the interior, water starts leaking at clutch pedal during raining & normal problem for kancil mata bulat, green screen at dashboard & lamp illuminating it does not functioning.

Pity my kancil.

So... even though this car brings me plenty of headache, I am thinking to turn her into a project car. With help from a friend of mine (workshop located at pasar borong selangor area), he manage to find a half cut L5, 4 cylinder, manual. The half cut just reach his workshop today.

I dont want to post any q today, but just a simple into of myself. Keep on Kei-ing!

Wow...another project car...how much the halfcut? turbo or N/A? make me xcited to replace my engine too coz now oso bnyi like mesin tebu oredi. hope u can Keep posting the progress...

I guess I gave my pomen a hard time with my specification. I requested for a manual since other car is an auto already, 4 cyl preferred & turbocharged. After almost 2 months he manage to find a 1998 L5. This is what he claimed la.

Understand that 3cyl has more oomph but I just want to try the 4 cyl. Main reason i choose this spec is ive tried 3 cyl (stock kancil) & want a smoother ride. I prefer smooth cruising and manual tranny for spirited driving sometime.

Costing. Got this unit for RM2950. At first i was shocked since my original budget for engine is like RM2.7k max. Other expenses including upah will be posted later.

What concerns me is the mileage of the engine os like 140k+kms on the odo.

Guess my pomen currently dismantling the halfcut. Waiting for green light to send my car there. Heheh,

Hope sifu here can adviceme on the spec of the engine (I dont even know what is JBJL, which model is avanzato. (very low IQ in this car thingy)

Hello all otai n sifus. I'm currently driving kancil l5 ef rl.. My car exhaust started to release some amount of white smoke. Did my car have to be overhaul? Since my car didn't have any overheating problem.. Currently my car mileage around 175k..all recommendations and advise are welcome
