China has blocked google and other popular public dns.

If you are using any of these and want to access China websites, you have to change your dns setting.

Change to what?

just to update...

my dead modem (3 yrs old) was replaced by unifi technician within 24 hrs of report. kudos!

zero charge as under life warranty, new modem basically just plug n play.

the new modem is bulky, twice the size of the old alcatel one.

everything good, except.... access to some china sites are still either dead or limited... sad.gif
*
Can you share with us what is the make/model of the new modem that TM supplied as replacement?

I got the Huawei HG8240w with the Innatech RG4332 wireless router with my VIP5 installation about a month ago.

You must have a good reason to change.

Does it not perform according to your expectations?

Give it a few days to prove itself first before taking the plunge.

In my case a month ago, TM supplied me with an Innatech RG4332 which cannot port forward 25565 my Minecraft server.

The DDNS functionality was also not working properly.

So I changed it to an ASUS RT-N12 D1, which has served me very well.

You are mistaken.

Unifi uses fibre optic cable which is not affected by rain.

I managed to pair my old Motorola C401a DECT phone from Streamyx with my new Motorola C401a DECT phone from Unifi.

They are of the same brand/model, so I just followed the user manual.

You should be able to pair the Panasonic to your Motorola if both of them are GAP phones, but I dunno how.

Duke,

Here is the instruction on how to register a different brand/model of DECT phone to the base station.

Hope it works for you.

Fiber Optics Are Weather Safe – Because it’s not electricity being sent through the wiring, changes in weather cannot affect the signals or information being transmitted. Rain, cold, lightning, all of these can affect traditional electrical signals but not fiber optics.

Well, if you are on a budget, yeah, the Asus RT-N12HP (take note on the "HP" *) is good enough.

* HP is the model with 9dBi high power antennas. There are also variants as follows:
1) RT-N12 (normal 5dBi antennas)
2) RT-N12UHP (similar to RT-N12HP but with USB port)
*
There is no such model called RT-N12UHP.

I thought I seen that in All IT Hypermarket... unless I saw wrongly the RT-N14UHP
*
You saw wrongly.

The RT-N14UHP is the correct model.

I'm a VIP 10 user, which i just subscribed last month
but when i do speed test, i always get 5mbps or less,
does anyone has the same problem before?
not sure is their problem or modem problem.
the modem model is TRG212M which they give during installation.
*
The TRG212M is not a modem. It is a wireless router.

oh ok, thanks. I thought its here cause I got it from TP-Link Malaysia's site.
Ok i just wait a bit and see what happens. Thanks
Btw does Unifi needs a separate modem like Streamyx?
*
A separate ADSL modem for Streamyx is not mandatory.

You can opt for an all-in-one wireless ADSL modem router for Streamyx.

But for Unifi, you definitely need a separate fibre-modem.

You should put it away and use an ASUS RT-N12 D1 instead, like what I did.
