1. Download the latest International firmware (ending with WW) for your respective Zenfone 5 model. Eg: TOOF_WW is for 2Ghz 2GB and TOOJ_WW is for the 1.6Ghz 1GB model.
2. Take note the date of existing firmware in the phone (Settings->About->Software Information). Eg: 20140430 for V0430 firmware.
3. Extract the -user.zip file from the downloaded _user.zip file.
4. Rename the -user.zip file to UL-ASUS_T00F-CN-yyyy.mm.dd.65432-user.zip where yyyy.mm.dd is any date newer than the existing firmware. If yours is an original Taiwan firmware, replace CN with TW. 65432 is just an arbitrary no, u can use 12345 instead.
5. Connect phone to PC. Copy the renamed -user.zip file to the root directory of the phone's Internal Storage.
6. Disconnect phone from PC.
7. There's an exclamation mark notification on the notification panel. Pull down and click to update.
8. Firmware update complete.
just wondering why so complicated and not just press OTA in one button? 2. Take note the date of existing firmware in the phone (Settings->About->Software Information). Eg: 20140430 for V0430 firmware.
