Keep it as a travel camera. SLR is not that portable after all.

it depends on what how is the situation u are in.

normall,y aperture to the widest, for S3is, iso 400. maybe 800, but beware the noise level at 800 is not really acceptable, 1600 totally out.
Shutter speed to the lowest u can afford..

the reason i change to DSLR, is because it gives better low light performance.. and i dun like to use flash.

You can shoot at high ISO, but make it B&W.

I'm afraid you got to send it to Canon Service Center.

Dust in S3 is unusual. Where do you keep your camera? I think Canon will have to wreck the camera out to remove the dust. Maybe they don't charge if your camera is still under warranty.

I really don't know. Canon is quite reasonable with their service charges and they have quite good customer service (the one in Subang).
Anyway, if it's too expensive for you after getting the quote, you will have to leave with it. Just "Heal" out those dust during PP. It shouldn't take you more than 30 sec.

Even if you bought it second handed, warranty will still apply if the camera is still within warranty period. Canon can disassemble the camera lens and remove the dust but if the dust does not affect your photos, leave it. Even for DSLR, all of them have some dust.
